Disney rings in the new year with a pair of TV spots for Dumbo, its first major in-studio release of 2019. The live-action remake of the Mouse House’s 1941 animated classic reunites the studio with director Tim Burton, who previously called the shots on their live-action Alice in Wonderland movie. More recently, the filmmaker reunited with Disney on the 2012 stop-motion animated feature Frankenweenie, based on his original 1984 short....

Director Brett Ratner is the latest Hollywood personality to be accused of sexual harassment and abuse. A series of allegations of sexual harassment and assault have roiled the film industry in recent weeks, starting with the numerous accusations, dating back decades, against the powerful producer and mogul Harvey Weinstein. Others facing allegations, most of them involving multiple accusers, include director James Toback and actor Kevin Spacey. Last month, there were whispers that director Brett Ratner may soon find himself facing similar accusations, especially when Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot cancelled her planned appearance where she was to present a Jewish National Fund award to Ratner, who directed the Rush Hour films, and X-Men: The Last Stand will producing numerous other films....

DC’s superhero event of the year, Batman V Superman, has landed in theaters with mixed results – although pleasing to a number of fans. Now, comic book fanatics are looking forward to the next big screen superhero battle royal. Captain America: Civil War ups the ante for superhero conflict, dividing the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) over the Sokovia Accords. Disney and Marvel are gearing up for Civil War’s red carpet premiere in Hollywood on April 13 and its early May release, which will include a few surprise additions to the official Civil War cast....

Captain Marvel has received the Wonder Woman 1984 treatment, but with a 1990s twist in some newly released fan-art. Directed by the partnership of Half Nelson’s Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, the blockbuster starring Brie Larson in the title role isn’t due to hit screens until 2019. But that hasn’t stopped some fans from already humorously envisioning how that might look. It’s no secret that Captain Marvel will be set in the early-’90s, which was even hinted at in the post-credit scene of Infinity War....

After years working as a stunt man, stunt coordinator, and fight choreographer, David Leitch made his directorial debut with Chad Stahelski in John Wick and has become well known for the amazing stunt choreography and action sequences he brings to his films. Last summer he tackled his sophomore directorial project with Charlize Theron in Atomic Blonde, which wowed critics and audiences everywhere. Taking over directorial duties from Tim Miller for Deadpool 2, he brings that same flair to the sequel, now in theaters....

Shazam! has cast relative newcomer Asher Angel in the role of Billy Batson. After years of quiet when it comes to Shazam!, the past few months have seen a flurry of announcements regarding the DC Comics adaptation. Earlier this summer, David F. Sandberg (Annabelle: Creation) came aboard as the film’s director, with the intention that filming would begin in February 2018. From there, the director’s frequent cinematographer and production designer joined Shazam!...

Adding more fuel to the “feud” between Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, Deadpool 2 has now passed Logan at the domestic box office. They only briefly appeared in one movie together - when a very lame version of Deadpool battled Wolverine atop a nuclear power plant in X-Men Origins: Wolverine - but Deadpool and Wolverine are strongly connected in movie lore. The two characters are connected because, before studios believed R-rated comic book movies could make money, Deadpool and then Logan proved that audiences will flock to superhero films with an adult edge....

Filming has officially come to a close on 20th Century Fox’s highly anticipated sequel Deadpool 2. While Ryan Reynolds technically first played Wade Wilson back in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, it was not until years later that Deadpool finally got justice. Reynolds’ commitment to the character and Fox eventually giving the film a go following a “leak” proved to be a worthwhile effort, as Deadpool went on to become the biggest R-rated movie of all-time....

Over the past year, developer Kosta Elftheriou has exposed several apps on the App Store that only exist purely to scam users. While Apple claims the App Store has “the apps you love” in a place “you can trust,” the developer has shown time and time again that this is not true. Just yesterday, Apple published a report noting that developers have sold over $260 billion in digital goods and services since 2008, with over $60 billion just last year....

Ant-Man & The Wasp ended with Scott trapped in the Quantum Realm at the exact moment Thanos snapped his fingers in Wakanda, successfully wiping out half of life in the universe, but since it appears the shrinking hero was unaffected by the catastrophic snap, does that mean that being subatomic saved him from disintegrating into dust like the Pyms? The latest Marvel flick may be a lighthearted self-contained adventure for the most part, but in service of MCU’s interconnected storytelling, it still had to somehow connect to the events of Avengers: Infinity War, hence, the tie-in post-credit scene....

Disney quietly deleted a sexual misconduct joke from the latest release of Toy Story 2, which was directed by John Lasseter, the former Pixar CCO who was ousted when allegations of sexual misconduct against him were reported during the #MeToo and Time’s Up movements. Ashley Jensen is the first actor to join the cast of Disney’s upcoming live-action Lady and the Tramp remake. The movie will skip theaters and instead premiere exclusively through the Mouse House’s as-yet unnamed streaming service, when it launches sometime in Fall 2019. Based on the 1955 Disney animated classic of the same name (which itself was adapted from Ward Greene’s story Happy Dan, The Whistling Dog), Lady and the Tramp will blend live-action actors with CGI animals, much like the Mouse House’s other recent live-action re-imaginings of its animated classics have before it....

Doctor Strange’s director, Scott Derrickson, has joined Marvel’s other directors in praising the Russo Brothers’ Avengers: Infinity War. The film has garnered praise from fans and Marvel professionals alike. It’s not hard to see why, as Avengers: Infinity War not only delivered incredible emotional punches, it also effectively set up Ant-Man and the Wasp, the next film on Marvel’s Cinematic Universe slate. The beginning of Marvel’s closing salvo has shaken the 14 billion dollar franchise to its core, resolving plotlines and making it a worthy near-conclusion for the first three phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe....

One dedicated fan of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has completed the entire game without running or walking at all. From the moment Breath of the Wild was announced as a game where Link could run straight to Ganon’s castle right at the very beginning, players were imagining all of the different speedrunning possibilities which would be available to them, but most of those, like the Breath of the Wild speedrun challenge to feed every dog in Hyrule, involve some sort of, well, running....

Bumblebee is bringing some new players to the robots in disguise franchise in the guise of Decepticons.
