Death Note, the manga series from Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, has gone through its share of anime adaptations, light novels, video games, musicals, television dramas, and live action films. It follows the story of a young man named Light who discovers a “death note,” a book used by gods of death called shinigami. Light discovers that he can kill anyone anywhere just by writing their name in the book and, unfortunately for the rest of the world, Light is a little bit of a sociopath....

Star Trek: Discovery has finally confirmed one of the show’s longest running theories in the latest episode, “Vaunting Ambition,” when Michael Burnham came to the horrifying realization that her captain, Gabriel Lorca, has been from the Mirror Universe all along. Mirror Lorca has seemingly orchestrated the events of the entire series up to this point to overthrow the Terran Empire’s ruler, Philippa Georgiou. Burnham comes to the realization while discussing a trade with Emperor Georgiou, who wants access to the Discovery’s spore drive schematics in exchange for helping the crew return to their universe....

The copyright status of Steamboat Willie, as well as much of Disney’s very early output, has been a topic of legal contention for decades. On January 1, 2019, every book, film, and song published in 1923 will fall out of copyright protection, or at least that is what will happen if further attempts to extend copyright are not put forward - but that probably won’t happen. As noted by a spokesperson for the Motion Picture Association of America (via Ars Technica), who themselves had lobbied heavily for copyright extension, “While copyright term has been a longstanding topic of conversation in policy circles, we are not aware of any legislative proposals to address the issue....

When he and his brother Loki were kids, the latter used his sorcery skills to turn himself into a snake, a favorite of our hero. Once Thor picks him up, Loki turns back into his usual form and stabs his big brother, a move that’s only funny to Loki (and the audience, of course)....

Director Bryan Singer took to Instagram to thank the Hollywood Foreign Press for honoring Bohemian Rhapsody at last night’s Golden Globes, prompting a wave of anger and criticism in response. Among the many winners that were announced, Bohemian Rhapsody walked away with two awards. Star Rami Malek was named ‘Best Actor’ for his turn as the legendary Freddie Mercury, while the film overall was awarded ‘Best Picture’ in the Drama category....

Since Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 focuses entirely on multiplayer, gamers need to master its core competitive modes. Here’s why Netflix’s Castlevania season 2 hid a wall chicken easter egg into one episode. Apple briefly made a ceramic Apple Watch, but a new patent granted today raises the possibility of glass or ceramic MacBooks. The patent includes near-invisible perforations in the material through which notification icons could be displayed with interactive buttons… The patent majors on the technique for incorporating the micro-perforations rather than the material itself. The idea is that the display/button elements would be invisible when not illuminated. Apple suggests ceramic as one suitable material for the casing, with glass and plastic as potential alternatives (though a plastic MacBook casing seems unlikely these days)....

A Quiet Place has everybody talking including MCU star Chris Pratt, who shared his thoughts on the film. Dark Phoenix director Simon Kinberg decided to keep the storylines surrounding the Hellfire Club and Lilandra out of the upcoming X-Men film.
