Hundreds of titles from American anime distribution company Funimation have been removed from the anime video streaming service Crunchyroll. The major removal of titles comes as a result of a recent acquisition from Sony. Prior to Sony Pictures Television acquiring Funimation in 2017, the company distributed a vast quantity of animation titles on Crunchyroll. These shows included everything from Dragon Ball Super to Eureka Seven. However, following the year-long buildup to their eventual split, Funimation will no longer be affiliated with third-party streaming services, meaning that Crunchyroll subscribers should now expect to see a decrease in titles....

Netflix is diving head first into big-budget Hollywood-style filmmaking with their sci-fi action film Bright starring bona fide mega-star Will Smith. According to Bright director David Ayer, though Netflix is willing to put up a studio-sized budget, there are big differences between working with the streaming service and working with a traditional Hollywood outfit. Ayer and Smith previously teamed up for Warner Bros’ DCEU movie Suicide Squad, a project that went through a lot of studio-mandated reshooting and recutting, resulting in a film that in many people’s eyes was deeply compromised and very disappointing (though it still made over $700 million worldwide at the box office)....
