Granted, the idea of freezing Gotham City with a giant ice cannon is no less insane than it was in the 1997 Joel Schumacher movie. But writer/artist Sean Murphy’s comic story utilizes the infamous Freeze-scheme in a way that actually makes sense, given the motivations of the characters involved....

There are reports that James Wan’s Swamp Thing TV series could start filming in fall 2018, with production expected to take place in North Carolina. Last month, the DC Universe online streaming service handed out a script-to-series order for a live-action Swamp Thing series, with Aquaman director James Wan producing, though quite a few details about the project remained unclear. According to rumors, Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn may lose her Suicide Squad tattoos in Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). After debuting the character to memorable effect in 2016’s Suicide Squad, Robbie will make her long-anticipated return as Harleen Quinzel aka Harley Quinn in the upcoming DCEU movie with the long - and arguably irritatingly confusing - title. As that title suggests, Birds of Prey will see Quinn freeing herself from the influence of the Joker and moving on to new adventures....

The English film adaptation of Death Note has been long-in-development. While the metaphysical thriller manga has already been adapted into a successful two-season anime series and a 2006 Japanese film, last April it was reported that Warner Bros. had purchased the rights to make their own Americanized version of the story. Shane Black (The Nice Guys, Iron Man 3) was once attached to direct, but later backed out, leaving Adam Wingard (You’re Next) to pick up the project with a script by Jeremy Slater (Fantastic Four)....

When James Franco revealed that he would play the role of Tommy Wiseau in The Disaster Artist (an adaptation of the book of the same name about the production of the notorious film, The Room) many fans of both Franco and The Room may have been skeptical. Now, fans can see if Franco passes the doppelganger test in a new official image released today by New Line Cinema. Up to now, there have only been behind-the-scenes photos of Franco at various stages of makeup and costuming for the role, but they gave little indication of how he would look in front of the camera....

Earlier this year, rumors pointed to an ad-supported Disney+ tier, which would presumably make the service more affordable for people. On Wednesday, Disney confirmed its plans to launch a new ad-supported tier during a call with investors. However, despite the new subscription plan, Disney+ is getting more expensive in the United States. Currently, the Disney+ subscription costs $7.99 per month. While the company will keep this same price on its basic plan, it is now introducing advertisements for these users....

After seemingly an eternity of buildup (Warner Bros. has been trying to make this movie for so long that there was footage of a still-living Christopher Reeve making fun of the idea in a news special), the biggest prospective superhero crossover ever has arrived onscreen with an entirely new Batman, the first live-action feature film Wonder Woman, a bucket full of teasers for Aquaman, The Flash and Cyborg and the promise of Justice League and a DC Extended Universe....

In an odd turn of events, Ben Affleck’s 2016 action film The Accountant was the most-rented title of 2017. Among all the other digital offerings last year, the MPAA has confirmed that Affleck’s film was the number one rented title. The Accountant is a mostly fine action film starring Affleck as Christian Wolff, an autistic accountant for criminal and terrorist enterprises. On the side, and through a series of flashbacks, we learn that he is an adept fighter who has had a hand in several deaths of the Gambino crime family, a mafia presence in New York City....
