The upcoming Die Hard prequel, Die Hard: Year One, will feature a younger John McClane, and Bruce Willis will help cast the role himself. The character’s estranged wife Holly Gennero (played by Bonnie Bedalia in the first two movies) is also expected to appear in the prequel. Based on the novel Nothing Lasts Forever by Roderick Thorp, the original Die Hard follows New York City detective John McClane (played by Bruce Willis) as he visits Los Angeles to make amends with his estranged wife Holly....

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s microtransactions are even worse than gamers originally thought. Not only is the game beginning to move away from single player narratives, it’s designed to heavily favor gamers who are willing to buy their cosmetic rewards rather than play for them. With a renewed focus on its multiplayer experience, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was met with high praise at launch. However, though gamers applauded its various in-game mechanics and play, microtransactions are proving to create an uneven playing field in which players are expected to spend actual money in order to potentially reap every benefit from the game....

Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa perished in Avengers: Infinity War, but that isn’t stopping the Black Panther superhero from returning in Avengers: Endgame. After first appearing in Captain America: Civil War, Boseman starred in his Black Panther solo movie last year, which sent him skyrocketing into stardom - and even the character’s death can’t keep him down. Black Panther was the first blockbuster to hold the number one slot at the box office for five weeks running since Avatar in 2009; it was only the third movie in history to pass $700 million at the domestic box office, even outgrossing Avengers: Infinity War....

With the rise of the infamous Stan Lee Marvel Universe movie cameos, the pressure has never been higher to deliver the goods when it comes to planning and executing these miniature roles. No genre does it better than in superhero movies (with the possible exception of Quentin Tarantino, but it’s perhaps debatable whether his stylized films qualify as a separate genre altogether). With movies such as The Avengers double-dipping and taking blockbuster heroes from their own sagas - as well as launching others - the potential for featuring different players in exciting and creative ways is limitless....

Earlier this year in Avengers: Age of Ultron, the Marvel Cinematic Universe welcomed a new roster of Avengers. In next year’s Captain America: Civil War, this new class of Avengers are forced to choose sides as the MCU is divide into two camps - one lead by Captain America/Steve Rogers, the other one by Iron Man/Tony Stark - in a terse situation that’s further complicated by Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), who has started to recover his memory....

Producer Jonathan Schwartz confirms Yon-Rogg is going to appear in Captain Marvel. Marvel Studios is building anticipation for their first female led movie by revealing new information, but not everything about Brie Larson’s solo movie has been revealed. The Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck directed movie is not going to be a traditional origin story for Carol Danvers either. Unlike many of Marvel’s past origin films, Captain Marvel is going to begin with her already having her super powers....

In October we attended EVE Vegas, an annual fan convention hosted by CCP Games to celebrate and discuss EVE Online and the developer’s other EVE-set gaming projects. For this year’s event, the big new thing was the first playable build of the current version of Project Nova, a first-person shooter set in the EVE universe and the spiritual successor to PS3’s DUST 514. An alpha build was planned to debut before year’s end for players, and all EVE Vegas attendees were guaranteed access....

CircleCI announced on Wednesday that it is now offering dedicated hosts for macOS development on its platform. Developers who build apps for Apple’s operating systems can now have access to macOS host machines to automate stages of the app development process. As detailed by the company, their dedicated hosts are available for 24 hours and offer “unprecedented storage, security, and scalability.” Each host machine has 200GB of storage and a 12-core CPU, which means they can handle multiple macOS and iOS builds....

What should have been a nostalgic trip through memory lane turned into tragedy as the last moments of Cobra Kai’s second season considerably ramped up the emotional stakes through a brutal all-out brawl. The feud between Miyagi-do and Cobra Kai is only about to get worse, and the members of each side have a lot to fight for and lose. With the stage set for a number of rematches and new fights between Johnny (William Zabka), Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), and their respective allies, fans are nothing short of excited for what lies in store for the martial artists....

Apple released macOS Monterey last week, one month after iOS 15, iPadOS 15, tvOS 15, and watchOS 8. Even though the operating system took a bit longer to arrive for general users, the company still had to postpone some features for this release, such as SharePlay and Universal Control. Apart from all of that and the release of the powerful new MacBook Pro last month, I must say that I’m relieved by macOS Monterey, which has my 2019 16-inch MacBook Pro running faster while improving battery life....

It has been confirmed that Nebula did not know the exchange cost to acquire the Soul Stone on Vormir in Avengers: Endgame. As Marvel Studios built up to the Avengers and Thanos finally meeting, the whereabouts of the Infinity Stones became incredibly important. Four of the six were introduced ahead of Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Doctor Strange then introducing the Time Stone. Surprisingly, the location of the Soul Stone - the last one to be revealed - was held all the way until Avengers: Infinity War....

Daredevil may be blind, but he’s getting more than his sight back thanks to Thor. As the next replacement for Heimdall, the watchman of Asgard, Matt Murdock is about to see ALL of the Marvel Universe at once. The news will be tough for fans of the recently-canceled Daredevil series to process, since the idea of seeing Daredevil and Thor actually join the same team has been a pipe dream. But as the Daredevil of TV falls, the version in Marvel Comics is getting a cosmic promotion....

Darksiders 3 pits players against the Seven Deadly Sins, and the boss battle against Avarice may leave some looking for a guide on how to defeat him. The third of the Sins that Fury finds in the game, Avarice is hunted down to the museum, surrounded by treasures and art that he has managed to scavenge from the destroyed remains of Earth. The route to Avarice is one of the more frustrating parts of the game, with nimble enemies who use ranged, explosive attacks that do a fair amount of damage....

With the Zach Snyder behemoth that is Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on the way this March, many fans of the caped crusaders from the DC Comics bullpen have plenty to look forward to from their chosen superheroes and heroines. Snyder’s aforementioned and inevitable blockbuster is likely to draw the attention of mainstream moviegoers in general, and may reinvigorate enthusiasm for the Warner Bros. owned stable of God-like men and women....

Warning: SPOILERS For Deadpool 2 - In Deadpool 2, X-Force is lucky to have Domino fighting on their side. The only female member of the derivative (but gender-neutral!) super-duper group that Deadpool assembles, Domino is also the only recruit lucky enough to survive their ill-fated but hilarious first mission. Luck, is of course, what the uber-cool Domino brings to the table, but it seems like her bizarre mutant power makes her practically unbeatable....

Deadpool, much like its source material, is an irreverent, bloody, and riotous twist on the superhero genre - a must-see comic book movie experience. A former member of the Special Forces, Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) works as a heavy for hire - taking down bad guys for a price. When Wilson meets local call girl, Vanessa Carlysle (Morena Baccarin), his life is forever changed and the pair enjoy a fairytale (albeit depraved) romance - until Wilson discovers that late-stage cancer has spread to his liver, lungs, prostate, and brain....

It looks as though Disney’s upcoming live-action Aladdin production is getting a script rewrite. The film – a remake of the Oscar-winning 1992 animated hit that starred Robin Williams as the voice of the Genie – is being directed by long-time gangster movie enthusiast Guy Ritchie. Vanessa Taylor, writer of several Game of Thrones episodes, will tackle the rewrite of frequent Tim Burton collaborator, John August’s (Dark Shadows, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), script....

As Hollywood adjusts to a globalized economy where films must appeal to a wider and more diverse audience than ever previously planned for, awkward casting controversies continue to be a growing concern - particularly in a blockbuster realm dominated by adaptations of books, comics, games and other material originally created in times with much different sensibilities. Perhaps the most prominent controversy in that realm of the moment is focused on an older issue: “Whitewashing”, or the casting of white actors in roles originally written for actors of other races....

A new Black Panther trailer raises awareness for the film’s special screenings on Giving Tuesday. As anyone who follows the film industry knows, Ryan Coogler’s entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe became a bona fide phenomenon when it was released back in February of this year. Riding enthusiastic word-of-mouth and critical praise that hailed it as one of Marvel’s best offerings, Black Panther tallied $1.3 billion globally and even outgrossed Avengers: Infinity War at the domestic box office....
