Doctor Strange 2 may not be officially confirmed by Marvel yet, but the MCU sequel is reported to be in development. The first Doctor Strange movie was a reasonable success for Marvel, but it was the appearance of Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange in Avengers: Infinity War that really helped fans to warm to the character, and doubtless convinced Kevin Feige that the demand for a sequel was there. A Doctor Strange 2 would likely reunite Cumberbatch with director Scott Derrickson and co-stars Chiwetel Ejiofor (Mordo) and Benedict Wong (Wong)....

While both were successful at the box office, neither Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice or Suicide Squad won the sort of critical and fan acclaim that Warner Bros. was likely hoping for. The two films did serve to give us a good introduction to Ben Affleck’s version of Bruce Wayne and the Batman, however. Many considered his portrayal of the character to be the best thing in Batman V Superman, and are looking forward to seeing more of him in Justice League and the upcoming solo Batman film....

Things are being turned upside down in the movie and TV business recently with the revelation of a number sexual assault scandals relating to high profile actors, producers, and other public figures from Harvey Weinstein to Brett Ratner to Kevin Spacey, and now Ben Affleck is giving back some of the money he earned from Weinstein movies. While the response to many of these scandals has been swift, the news that some of this behavior wasn’t entirely unknown is also disheartening....

John Turturro’s The Big Lebowski spinoff has been retitled The Jesus Rolls and will reach theaters sometime in early 2020. Turturro, of course, costarred in the Coen Brothers’ 1998 cult classic as Jesus Quintana, a foul-mouthed sex offender and bowling rival to The Dude (Jeff Bridges) and his closest friends. The actor has long wanted to do more with the character and eventually set to work on a Jesus spinoff film in 2016....

A young fan posted a pitch-perfect “M’Baku Challenge” video to celebrate Black Panther. The new viral social media trend arose from one of the most memorable scenes in a movie full of them. The impassioned speech by M’Baku (Winston Duke) in his challenge to the throne of T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) introduced one of the movie’s most indelible characters and lent plenty of nuance to both sides of the conflicts within Wakanda....

Huell Babineaux’s role in Breaking Bad was limited but his involvement in Better Call Saul allowed for more screentime, as well as a backstory. The character portrayed by Lavell Crawford made his Breaking Bad debut in season 4 as Saul Goodman’s bodyguard. Huell was eventually caught up in Walter White’s crime spree, and eventual downfall. Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) used Huell as his bodyguard while assisting in Walt’s dangerous dealings, clearly hired for his intimidating size rather than his intelligence....

With Aquaman and Mary Poppins Returns poised to lead the pack at the box office this weekend, Bumblebee is projected to score the lowest opening weekend in the Transformers film franchise. Dating back to the 2007 original, the Transformers series has always been a reliable draw for Paramount, but recently it hasn’t been as sure of a thing. Michael Bay’s The Last Knight, which came out last summer, was the property’s first installment to underwhelm commercially....

It looks as though Norman Osborn is about to become the latest madman to wear the Carnage symbiote. In December, Marvel teased that prolific writer Dan Slott would be leaving the pages of Amazing Spider-Man. Slott joined up as main writer on the book in November 2010. He’s taken the wall-crawler through some of his most incredible adventures to date, including “Spider-Verse” and “Spider-Island.” For his final arc, bearing the appropriate title “Go Down Swinging,” Slott would be unveiling a new enemy to challenge Spider-Man: the Red Goblin....

China has announced sweeping new rules for online video games, and the changes could have implications for Apple and the App Store. China’s National Press and Publication Administration says that with these new rules, kids under 18 years old will be limited to playing online video games for just three hours per week. As reported by CNBC, the changes come as part of an effort by China to protect children’s physical and mental health....

Hollywood makes all possible accommodations to be certain that actors are usually shown in their best light. Red carpets, late-night and daytime talk shows, press junkets, promotional tours… The opportunities are endless for actors to promote their projects and themselves. It takes a lot of physical and mental endurance to withstand a movie’s promotional tour. Blockbusters usually have worldwide premieres in different parts of the planet (which means lots of traveling), journalists are trying to make an impression with actors they don’t often see through a language barrier (which makes for strange interactions), and it is admittedly very hard to look excited while trying to find new ways to answer the same questions....

Fans of the notoriously difficult video games by Japanese developer FromSoftware and publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment are likely looking forward with perhaps something slightly divorced from outright glee when it comes to the impending release of Dark Souls 3. Starting with the PlayStation 3 title Demon’s Souls in 2009, FromSoftware has cornered the market on exceedingly challenging dungeon crawler productions within the current generation of consoles. Dark Souls 3 will mark the end of a FromSoftware trilogy and overarching franchise, which includes the aforementioned spiritual predecessor Demon’s Souls and the thematically related Bloodborne from 2015....

Deadpool 2 is about to head into its opening weekend, one which is likely to see it topple Avengers: Infinity War at the box office, and overall it could end up making more than the first Deadpool movie....

The story of the Detective Pikachu video game that inspired the blockbuster movie will be reaching its conclusion on a new platform, as it’s been announced that it’ll be receiving a sequel on the Nintendo Switch. Detective Pikachu was originally released for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan in 2016, and it wouldn’t see an international release until 2018. The announcement of the Detective Pikachu movie was likely a catalyst for the English localization of the game, which explains why it took so look to be released overseas....

DJI may be getting closer to launching a new product category, expanding beyond its drones, action cams, iPhone gimbals, and pro devices. Another round of new patent images show in greater detail DJI’s first mirrorless camera. In 2019, after DJI acquired a majority stake in Hasselblad, Twitter user OsitaLV discovered the first patent filed by DJI in China that revealed a mirrorless camera very much like the Hasselblad X1D 50c....

For nearly a decade there has been a torrent of open-world games. Ever since 2001’s Grand Theft Auto III the genre has been growing in dominance. Grand Theft Auto III was a groundbreaking title that, for the first time, let players freely roam a 3D world from a third-person perspective, practically introducing a whole new genre of games. There’s something special about being given the full freedom to explore a famous city, a mysterious remote island, and new locations, as well as the ability to wreak havoc and get chased by police....

The British Film Institute has allied with the #IAmNotYourVillain campaign, declaring that it will no longer support movies with scarred villains. Facial scars have become something of a shorthand for villainy in movies - from Freddy Krueger to Heath Ledger’s Joker to The Lion King’s Scar - but UK charity Changing Faces has been endeavoring to beat the stigma of visible scars and their negative associations in the film industry....

Big Little Lies season 2 was substantially re-edited during post-production without director Andrea Arnold’s involvement, according to a new report. Fans were naturally wary when HBO ordered a second round of Big Little Lies after its highly-decorated freshman run. After all, season 1 had already covered the entirety of author Liane Moriarty’s source novel and was originally designed to function as a limited series. Fortunately, the series’ new slate of episodes have gone over exceptionally well with critics and general audiences since season 2 began airing in early June....

Marvel Studios has a game-changer on their hands with Black Panther, a film which is breaking records in its critical acclaim and box office accolades around the world. It’s one of the top Marvel movies already and sequels and spinoffs are happily inevitable. And Marvel knew this was the case early during production when they were able to lock down director Ryan Coogler (Creed, Fruitvale Station) and were able to assemble a cast that even surprised them....

Film production company Blumhouse will soon team up with Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof for a new politically motivated action thriller titled The Hunt. Jason Blum, along with Lindelof, will also produce the movie. Z for Zachariah director Craig Zobel will direct, with Lindelof and Nick Cuse writing the script. Cuse is the son of Lindelof’s fellow Lost writer Carlton Cuse. The three men know each through working together on HBO’s The Leftovers....

Blumhouse has hired its first female director for Hulu’s Into the Dark series. The production company behind films like Get Out, the Purge franchise, and this year’s Halloween has hired director Sophia Takal to helm an all-female horror project titled New Year New You. New Year New You will be the fourth episode in the horror anthology series from Blumhouse airing exclusively on Hulu. Into the Dark has been recognized as Hulu’s version of Black Mirror, the sci-fi anthology series on Netflix....
