Ben Stiller’s prison escape series, Escape at Dannemora, has officially been greenlit by Showtime, with Paul Dano being the latest star to join the impressive cast. The announcement comes less than a month after initial rumors began to fly that Stiller’s new project would find a home at Showtime and was close to locking in Benecio del Toro, as well as Oscar-winner Patricia Arquette. After all these decades, Dick Van Dyke apologized for the famously bad Cockney accent he used for the lovable chimney-sweep named Bert in Walt Disney Pictures’ 1964 classic, Mary Poppins. Last Thursday, BAFTA Los Angeles named the recipients for its annual Britannia Awards, and Van Dyke was among them. The 91-year-old acting legend is being honored with the Britannia Award for Excellence in Television. Disenchantment season 1 ends on a big cliffhanger that leaves many questions dangling for season 2. Traditionally, Matt Groening TV shows were heavily episodic - The Simpsons and Futurama did have some character development and narrative shifts over time, but they were typically in the background and localized in single half hours - but his Netflix animation deviates from the norm. Disenchantment starts out with a two-part “pilot” and while after the show appears to be falling into a pretty standard structure, in the final three episodes it becomes apparent the story being told has been a lot more heavy in foreshadowing and serialization....
