Chris Hardwick won’t return to moderate the panel for Warner Bros. and DC Films at San Diego Comic-Con 2018 amid abuse allegations. Last week, Chloe Dykstra detailed the actions of an unnamed ex-boyfriend in a Medium essay, and hints in the piece pointed to her previous relationship with Hardwick. In addition to allegations of emotional abuse and sexual assault, Dykstra also stated her former boyfriend attempted to blacklist her within her industry....

Christopher Robin is a re-imagining full of heart and soul that, like the best Disney features, has something of value to offer audiences of all ages. When the Mouse House announced it was making a live-action movie about Winnie the Pooh’s famous human friend having grown up, the project naturally drew comparisons to Hook, i.e. Steven Spielberg’s own film about a symbol of childhood from classic literature becoming an adult. Thankfully, the similarities between Disney’s Christopher Robin and Spielberg’s Peter Pan sequel don’t extend much beyond the premise....

Paul Walter Hauser is starring in Clint Eastwood’s upcoming Richard Jewell drama. A docudrama about the real-life 1996 Olympics bombing (where security guard Richard Jewell prevented a bomb from doing more harm, but was later falsely accused of planting it), the film’s been in the works since as far back as 2014. Captain Phillips writer-director duo Billy Ray and Paul Greengrass were attached early on, with Wolf of Wall Street costars Jonah Hill and Leonardo DiCaprio circling the lead roles....

Conan is set to welcome some big guests during its annual week-long trip to San Diego Comic-Con, including the casts of Aquaman and Breaking Bad. The current elder statesman among the field of late night talk show hosts, Conan O’Brien will soon celebrate his 25th anniversary in the late night field. Conan’s first initial hosting stint on NBC’s Late Night began in September 1993, after which he moved on to a brief run hosting The Tonight Show, before heading off to host the simply titled Conan on TBS in 2010....

Deangelo Vickers was introduced to audiences as Michael Scott’s replacement towards the end of season seven of The Office. Set up to be taking over as Regional Manager, the showrunners played a bit of misdirection as Will Ferrell’s character who, despite now being a fan favorite, actually only appeared in four episodes. In that short time though he makes quite the impression and builds a character that’s incredibly entertaining at the same time almost impossible to understand....

Based on the anime and manga series of the same name, Death Note tells the story of Light, a young man who happens across a notebook that will kill anyone whose name is written inside. Disney and Lucasfilm have rushed out the Star Wars sequel trilogy too fast, and they’ve in turn ruined the franchise (perhaps a little) by doing so. After Lucasfilm and 20th Century Fox released the first Star Wars movie back in 1977, it took them another three years for George Lucas’ sequel, The Empire Strikes Back, to hit theaters in 1980. Sure, a sequel wasn’t something that was immediately planned and put into development, but even the rest of the Star Wars saga stayed true to the three-year gap per movie....

The Tim Burton-directed Alice in Wonderland was the billion dollar-grossing film that kicked off Disney’s practice of reimagining stories that it had previously adapted into 2D animated films, as modern live-action/CGI features instead. It wasn’t until Kenneth Branagh’s Cinderella and especially Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book that Disney’s live-action fairy tale re-tellings began generating widespread critical acclaim, in addition to doing big business at the global box office. Next month’s live-action Beauty and the Beast musical aims to keep the Mouse House’s winning streak alive in this respect, as does Disney’s live-action take on the Chinese legend, Mulan....

In the Doctor Strange comics, the character Wong is Stephen Strange’s manservant. It’s a bit of a stereotypical character, so in bringing Wong to the big screen in this fall’s Doctor Strange movie, Marvel decided it was time to give the character a complete overhaul. The big screen Wong, played by Benedict Wong, is Stephen’s drill sergeant of sorts in his magical training. It’s a much more significant role than a manservant, and Screen Rant spoke with Wong at the press day for Doctor Strange about the importance of updating the character, his life-long love of comic books, and his upcoming appearance in Avengers: Infinity War....

The release date for Chris Rock’s Saw film has been moved forward to May 2020. News of Rock’s reboot of the horror franchise first broke a couple months ago, when Lionsgate announced that the revamp was set for an October 23, 2020 release date, with Rock executive producing and writing the story outline. As he’s better known for comedy, Rock may not have seemed the most obvious choice to guide a Saw reboot, but he assured horror fans that he’d been a fan of the franchise since the start, and intended to take it to “a really intense and twisted new place....

Marvel is always looking for ways to expand its reach, coinciding with the growth of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. What started out as just films, has now seen two series hit ABC and three series debut on Netflix with three more on the horizon. However, that is not enough for the company as it looks to bring Runaways to Hulu and Cloak & Dagger to Freeform. The upcoming series has not had the easiest time getting off the ground, however....
