A new VR experience called Alien: Descent will be coming be to a Southern California mall on April 26. While Alien is an iconic movie franchise, it’s had a robust shelf life in other mediums too, including video games, comic books, novels and toys. These spinoff titles get to explore other aspects of the universe and play around with the mythology of the series in unique ways. There have been a number of great games based on the series over the years, including Alien: Isolation, Alien Trilogy and 1999’s Alien Vs Predator....

A regulatory filing has revealed that Warren Buffett’s conglomerate Berkshire Hathaway bought a $4.1B stake in Apple chipmaker TSMC … Background Billionaire investor Warren Buffett predicted back in 2011 that he would hold very few shares in AAPL in the future, because it was hard to predict the company’s future. That changed in 2016, when his conglomerate revealed a purchase of a billion dollars worth of stock. That was quickly followed by more AAPL stock purchases, leading to a complete reversal of his former position when he declared that he’d buy the company outright if he could....

Hulu has a lot of great Christmas movies, but it can be time-consuming to sift through them all. Originally, there were only ABC specials and the Hallmark Channel movies; now there are plenty of ways to watch all of the movies the holiday season has to offer. The best part is, with so many different options, there’s something for everyone. Netflix started making their own Christmas movies, while Hulu has focused on providing users with a variety of different genres, including holiday TV specials and holiday-themed thrillers....

While the long-term Apple-building-a-vehicle rumors continue unabated, Apple’s current presence in the car comes via CarPlay, which allows a connected iPhone to show maps, communication apps and more on the in-car infotainment system. Bloomberg today reports that Apple wants to extend CarPlay to be able to interact more closely with the host vehicle. This could include controlling air conditioning, adjusting seats and other settings. Bloomberg says the project, codenamed ‘IronHeart’, is in the early development stages....

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 developer Treyarch held a live stream today, discussing more about the upcoming first-person shooter’s multiplayer. The big news to come out was regarding multiplayer maps, as the company announced that four maps from Black Ops would be making a comeback in the new installment. They also announced that Nuketown will return in a new form post-launch… and for free. Nuketown, which debuted as a map in the original Call of Duty: Black Ops game, quickly became a fan-favorite thanks to its small size and constant close-quarters combat....

Marvel Studios is consciously building Captain Marvel differently to help it stand out among the standard origin movie formula. Over the past 10 years, Marvel has made several origin movies to help audiences get acquainted with some of their biggest heroes. Iron Man kicked off a run of them in Phase 1, with Phase 2 and Phase 3 both featuring their fair share of origin stories as well. In each instance, the studio tried to do something to change it up, whether that is in the film’s genre, tone, or even what types of characters are leading them....

The upcoming TV adaptation of The Haunting of Hill House has just found its female lead in the shape of Sin City actress Carla Gugino. Filmmaker Mike Flanagan (Oculus) has been working on the Netflix show and had already announced the male lead, and now the latest addition to the cast has been revealed. The series was first announced in April and was seen as being another significant step forward for more original genre content on Netflix after having notable successes with the likes of Hemlock Grove, Black Mirror, and especially Stranger Things....

Carrie Fisher’s family still does not know Lucasfilm’s plan for General Leia Organa in Star Wars: Episode IX. With The Force Awakens being Han Solo’s sendoff and The Last Jedi closing the book on Luke Skywalker’s story, Leia was supposed to have a significant role in the sequel trilogy finale as she led the Resistance against the First Order. Unfortunately, that all changed when Fisher passed away in December 2016. Lucasfilm revealed they started from scratch after the actress’ death, and the film has only gone through more revisions since then with J....

A new casting breakdown for Stargirl suggests that more members of the Justice Society of America (JSA) will be joining the show’s cast. First announced as being produced for DC Universe at San Diego Comic Con 2018, the upcoming show is shaping up to be another smash hit for the new streaming service. The show is currently scheduled to premiere some time in September 2019. The series will focus upon Courtney Whitmore - a typical 15-year-old California girl who is forcibly relocated to the small town of Blue Valley, Nebraska after her mother remarries....

Titans is another step closer to becoming a reality, now that veteran film and TV director Brad Anderson has boarded the project to helm the pilot. After so many years stuck in development hell at TNT, it’s hard to believe Titans is finally being made thanks to DC’s new streaming service. While CW Seed has been turning out digital series shows set in the Arrowverse, this new unnamed venture will help bring Young Justice season 3 and Titans to life....
