A fan-made poster for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness unites Benedict Cumberbatch’s Strange with Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch. Strange made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in 2016 and has gone on to become a staple member of the Avengers team, proving vital in the battle against Thanos. A second solo movie was finally announced at the recent San Diego Comic Con 2019 event as part of Marvel’s Phase 4. Along with a glut of other announcements and reveals, Doctor Strange 2 was officially given the title Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and is said to be the MCU’s first horror movie.

Along with official confirmation of Cumberbatch’s second solo outing, this year’s Marvel Studios SDCC panel revealed that Scarlet Witch would be featuring as a main cast member. Making her debut in the post-credits scene of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Olsen has starred as Wanda Maximoff in four further MCU entries, but has yet to front her own cinematic release. Scarlet Witch will, however, be appearing alongside Paul Bettany in the Disney Plus series, Wandavision, with storylines from the show crossing over into the next Doctor Strange movie.

A new piece of fan art from UltraRaw26 offers a mind-bending take on a poster design for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The almost symmetrical arrangement features a multi-armed Strange casting a variety of familiar spells, with dual Earths on either side. Hovering in front of a sling ring portal is Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, brandishing her own mysterious red magic in each hand.

While Strange is clad in his familiar MCU attire, however, the poster gives Scarlet Witch a far more revealing outfit than the character has even donned on the big screen. Certainly, the Scarlet Witch of the Marvel comic books has been known to wear some skimpy outfits over the years but, understandably, this trait has not carried over into live action. It would be a huge surprise (and also hugely controversial) if Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness saw Olsen’s character come as close to a wardrobe malfunction as her counterpart in this poster.

Scarlet Witch’s attire aside, this fan poster perfectly captures the otherworldly madness of the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel and is reminiscent of the psychedelic visuals Doctor Strange director, Scott Derrickson, used to great effect. With the sequel’s very title promising even more Multiverse fun this time around, trippy visuals on a grand scale should be expected.

In many ways, Scarlet Witch is the perfect addition to the Doctor Strange series. Not only does the character also wield magic instead of brute strength or advanced tech, but Maximoff’s powers remain somewhat of a mystery in the MCU. In the comics, Scarlet Witch’s magic is almost limitless in nature and it’ll be fascinating to explore the extent of the character’s abilities in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
