Xur’s location and gear guide for December 8 through 11 in Destiny 2 is now revealed. For those don’t know, Xur is an agent of the Nine and a traveling merchant who shows up every weekend at a different location, on a different planet, with a handful of new, Exotic gear. Typically, four items are available to players every weekend, and all the times can be purchased using only Legendary Shards. And this weekend marks the first Xur sale since the game’s first expansion, Curse of Osiris, released, which means gear should be higher level than usual. This weekend, Xur is located at the European Dead Zone (EDZ) near Winding Cove. You’ll have to climb a few rocks to get to the elusive agent, but it’s well worth it for what he has this week.
The Dragon’s Shadow
The Dragon’s Shadow (costs 23 Legendary Shards) is an exotic Hunter class chest armor that’s constructed out of wraithmetal mail and “grants movement and weapon handling speed for a short time after dodging,” which should come especially handy during PvP matches, considering Hunters do a fair amount of dodging in competitive. Also, Hunters who use a Void subclass will have their class abilities recharge faster - and the ability can stack up to 3 times.
Nezarec’s Sin
Nezarec’s Sin (costs 23 Legendary Shards) is an exotic Warlock class helmet that has Abyssal Extractors, which enable users who get Void-damage kills to increase their ability energy recharge rate. As with most other Warlock gear, Nezarec’s Sin is balanced across the board, with a legendary mod that improves weapon handling for energy weapons. Unless players want to upgrade their helmet, most Warlock users may already have Nezarec’s Sin and would want to skip it this week.
Prometheus Lens
Prometheus Lens (costs 29 Legendary Shards) is an exotic Trace Rifle that’s considered to be the strongest weapon in the game right now. It’s overpowered, especially in PvP, thus giving players who wield the exotic weapon an edge over those who don’t. While Bungie plans on nerfing the weapon on December 12, they decided to temporarily give everyone a fighting chance (and wreak some havoc at the same time) by making the Trace Rifle available for everyone to purchase as Xur. The funny thing is, Prometheus Lens’ inclusion may have been brought about by a Redditor vowing to shave his head if Xur sold the weapon:
Did you make a bet that we wouldn’t let Xur sell Prometheus Lens? It’s available in the EDZ. Your move.— Bungie (@Bungie) December 8, 2017
The Prometheus Lens weapon contains Prismatic Inferno, which means it fires “a solar trace beam that generates a damaging heat field that grows while the weapon continues to fire.” What’s more, kills obtained with the Prometheus Lens replenishes the weapon’s ammo and even extends the beam itself.
MK 44. Stand Asides
MK 44. Stand Asides (costs 23 Legendary Shards) are exotic Titan class boots that “grants an overshield when sprinting at full health with Seismic Strike, Hammer Strike, or Shield Bash equipped.” And hit with one of those abilities equipped will recharge a portion of the user’s melee energy.
