The long-awaited and highly anticipated Deadpool movie is fast exceeding everyone’s expectations. With overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics and fans alike, Deadpool beat X-Men:Days of Future Past’s opening weekend figures in Britain and France, and is also predicted to smash the domestic box office record for a February-opening film with projected takings of $115.3 million during the extended Presidents Day weekend.
Starring Ryan Reynolds in what could well be his most popular and successful role to date, Deadpool seems to have got it right from the get-go; a brilliantly clever marketing campaign gave fans countless promos, billboards, Instagram posts and commercials. Added to that, the Deadpool trailers have always delivered, and they certainly seem to have done their job of pulling audiences in. The film has been praised for its humor and sense of fun, which is present throughout; even down to its soundtrack.
The Deadpool soundtrack is rather an eclectic mix – to say the very least – but as with most things associated with this movie, it works. Currently topping the iTunes Soundtrack chart, and riding high on the iTunes Album chart as well, its popularity is only set to soar as more people head to theaters to catch the film. In keeping for the current nostalgia surrounding music releases, Milan Records have also announced plans to give the soundtrack a vinyl release, too.

While no further details are known, it’s still definitely something to look forward to, since the public’s appetite for all things Deadpool shows no signs of slowing just yet. The track listing is pretty good, too. The main score is written by Junkie XL (who also scored Mad Max: Fury Road and has a hand in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice), and also includes ‘Shoop’ by Salt-N-Pepa, ‘Careless Whisper’ by WHAM, and ‘Calendar Girl’ by Neil Sedaka which (no spoilers) seems to weirdly suit the scene it is used in. Many tracks will be familiar, especially ‘X Gon’ Give It To Ya’ by DMX, which was widely used in the Deadpool marketing campaign. Of course, if you haven’t already, you’ll need to watch the film to see where the rest of the tracks fit. At any rate, the news of a vinyl release is good for fans of the film who also happen to prefer their music in that specific physical medium. If nothing else, the vinyl version of the soundtrack will make for a handsome collector’s item.
