Deadpool 2 gets another awesome fan-made poster honoring Wolverine’s passing. Deadpool offers a lot of opportunities for fans to get creative with the X-Men property with the encouragement and blessing of its creators and the studio itself.
Deadpool 2’s final trailer is loaded with easter eggs and goodies, including a bit about the film coming from the studio that killed Wolverine. The trailers, teasers, and posters so far have been a goldmine of inside jokes, making them a blessing for every Deadpool fan. Thanks to a new poster from the UK artist Doaly, the fourth-wall breaking antihero and the beloved grumpy X-Men member have met at last in a hilarious fashion. The UK artist posted a poster on Twitter showing Deadpool standing over Wolverine’s grave from Logan with a shovel in his hand. In the wake of Logan, bringing Wolverine back to life is an idea that’s been on a number of peoples’ minds. Take a look:
From Driving Deadpool to a potential Logan and Deadpool crossover, the creativity of fans can’t be beaten when it comes to adding to the cultural landscape and promoting the film. In the age of social media, the work of artists like Doaly adds a lot of flavors to the film’s promotional campaign. The best part is when creatives respond back, something Reynolds has a history with himself.
Logan closed out Wolverine’s story elegantly, but that hasn’t stopped fans from holding out hope that the iconic mutant might make some sort of comeback and give Deadpool another partner to snark at after Josh Brolin’s Cable. 20th Century Fox hasn’t chosen to utilize the pairing, and now that Deadpool is moving into X-Force territory, the films are reaching beyond the core group of X-Men to tell untold stories in television and film. Deadpool and Logan most likely won’t meet, and fans should ask themselves if they’d want Deadpool to meet anyone but Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine since Disney would most likely recast the Wolverine role if they rebooted the X-Men.
Still, the Disney and Fox merger doesn’t mean that potential crossovers or a return are entirely impossible. Disney CEO Bob Iger has promised that Deadpool will retain his particular spirit. And with Disney looking to capitalize on the X-Men in the future, a Jackman/Wolverine comeback is always a possibility. Until that happens, though, fans will have to take what they can get with these fan-made posters and trailers.
