Although there had been rumors that Justice League actor Ray Fisher was leaving the role of Cyborg, he recently announced that he has no intentions of leaving the role anytime soon. Fisher played Victor Stone in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and more recently in Justice League. Stone is a half-human/half-machine that fights alongside Batman and the other members of the League.

Fisher was cast as Cyborg back in 2014 for Batman v Superman, although he had a very small role in the film. Batman v Superman very clearly was trying to set up Justice League and the future of the DCEU, which was part of its downfall. Cyborg, of course, had a much bigger role in Justice League, since the film was a team up of DC’s most iconic superheroes. Prior to release, the film seemed to be comparable to Marvel’s team-up film The Avengers; however, Justice League failed at the box office and did very poorly with many fans and most critics. After having a string of poorly received films - save for Wonder Woman - the DCEU was clearly in trouble. While Ben Affleck’s future with the DC Universe is still a mystery, Fisher has confirmed that he doesn’t have any plans on leaving the role of Cyborg.

After rumors that he was leaving the DCEU, Fisher took to Twitter to announce that he was never considering leaving the role of Victor Stone. Fisher then joked that when it’s time for him to hang up his “all-too-revealing mocap onesie” that fans would hear the news from him instead of through rumors. These rumors about Fisher leaving the DCEU started earlier this month, when the actor posted a poem on Twitter which seemed like a possible goodbye to the character. Jovian Wade was also cast as Cyborg recently for the TV show Doom Patrol, which will be available on DC’s new streaming service. Although the DC movies and TV shows currently don’t share any connections, the casting announcement of Wade also made people think that Fisher would soon be saying goodbye.

With the upcoming releases of Aquaman, Shazam!, and Wonder Woman 1984, DC finally seems to be getting some good buzz, even though they have had so many stumbles at the box office. The rumors about Fisher hanging up his Cyborg suit didn’t seem to carry a lot of weight in the first place. However, it’s reassuring that the Justice League actor came out to set the record straight, especially since Cyborg is expected to be getting his own movie at some point.
