With the second season of the popular Netflix Original Series based on the eponymous Marvel Comics character on the way, fans of the Daredevil show have been clambering for more information regarding where they can expect to see the blind, Hell’s Kitchen lawyer, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), go next. Following the release of the first teaser trailer and poster for the new series, and knowing full well that an epic stand off between Daredevil and The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) is on the way, anticipation couldn’t be higher for the show ahead of its March 2016 release.

In addition to including infamous vigilante Frank Castle to the series’ rotating cast of heroes and villains, fans also know that the Murdock’s old college flame, Elektra Natachios (Elodie Yung) will be also making an appearence of which more details have just been released.

During a conversation with CBM, the head of Marvel TV, Jeph Loeb, discussed Elektra’s role in Daredevil season 2, drawing attention to the character’s relationship with Murdock in the comics - wherein she left Matt during their college days for reasons that remain unexplained at this point and time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Loeb’s specific comments relating to the dynamic between Elektra and Daredevil on the show were as follows:

Just what sort of help Elektra might be seeking from Murdock in the second season of the show is the obvious question that still remains. Based on the accumulation of all outstanding source material relating to the two characters, viewers might very well see the first appearance of an antagonist as well known comic book readers as The Hand, as noted by CBM.

“I think one of the things that’s dynamic about [Elodie Yung’s] performance is that you never quite know if Elektra’s telling you the truth.  Matt, who has this sort of ability to be a human lie detector, because he’s emotionally attached to her, it skews his ability to be able to know whether or not she’s telling the truth or he’s being manipulated, or is she actually not manipulating him? That kind of interaction, and I think the natural emotion that was going on between Charlie and Elodie that we captured on film, added a great deal of spark to it. Particularly, given that Karen Page [from the first season] is an equally strong and independent woman who has her own story that’s going on throughout the series. As you will watch it unfold, you get very caught up in the push and pull of Matt Murdock’s life.”

Following the establishment of the basic character that was featured on the show’s first season, returning viewers can likely expect a second season from the Netflix Original Series that will focus primarily on Murdock has he comes to terms with the reasons behind his taking up mantle of the show’s titular protagonist. With any luck, fans of the series might just be in for a second season to rival the likes of such feature film fare as Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight - though only time will tell how well things shake out for the Hell’s Kitchen lawyer in a little over a month.

Daredevil season 1 and Jessica Jones season 1 are now available on Netflix. Daredevil season 2 will debut on Netflix on March 18th, 2016, followed by Luke Cage season 1 later in 2016. Release dates for Iron Fist and The Defenders on Netflix have not yet been announced.
