Lethal Weapon star Damon Wayans is responding to fans after the FOX show was officially renewed for a third season. Wayans’ former co-star Clayne Crawford has officially been fired and replaced by actor Seann William Scott and now Wayans is responding to that firing. Crawford was fired after allegations of behavior issues on set as well as workplace safety issues. Wayans was reportedly injured by flying shrapnel during an on-set stunt in an episode that Crawford was directing, an incident that reportedly caused a lot of friction between the two co-stars.

Rumors of Crawford’s firing from the show had been circulating for weeks, with many speculating the series wouldn’t be picked up for a third season if Crawford was still attached. FOX has since confirmed that Crawford will be replaced in the shortened third season by American Pie actor Scott. Fans of Crawford were disappointed by the news, with many taking to social media to blame Wayans himself for being a driving force behind Crawford’s firing.

Wayans took to Twitter to seemingly defend himself and to post a video of the incident when he was struck in the side of the head by a piece of shrapnel during an episode that Crawford directed. The actor, who plays Roger Murtagh, posted a series of tweets highlighting the incident and tagging Crawford, using the hashtag #noapology in one of his tweets. Wayans made his Twitter private shortly after posting the tweets, and has since deleted his account completely. THR has screenshots of his posts including pictures of his bleeding head after the shrapnel injury.

Screenshots of tweets allegedly posted by Wayans show a sticker featuring an illustration of Crawford’s face with the caption, “Clayne Crawford is an emotional terrorist.” Wayans claimed in the tweet that parent company Warner Bros. TV has been unsupportive and that Crawford “relished in making female [sic] cry.” Wayans also claims Crawford hit another actor in the mouth with a bottle of green tea and that he had a “file of infractions” before bidding adieu to Twitter for good.

Crawford himself hasn’t responded to any of Wayans’ tweets, instead choosing to post a message on Instagram wishing the cast and crew good luck on their upcoming third season. He also thanked those who have been supportive of him throughout the past few weeks. It’s been rumored that Scott won’t be replacing Crawford when he joins Lethal Weapon’s cast for season 3, instead possibly playing his character’s brother. Season 2 ended with a bang, with Crawford’s character being shot. Many are presuming that Scott’s character will arrive looking to find out more about his brother’s death. Either way, it seems that the show won’t be without drama as fans are clearly divided on whether they’re Team Wayans or Team Crawford. Are you upset at Crawford’s firing or do you think Scott will be a welcome addition to the cast?
