This weekend, fans far and wide gather for San Diego Comic-Con, and here’s when Fox’s panel celebrating the X-Men - specifically Deadpool 2 - will take place. 2018 is a pretty quiet year overall for Fox’s X-Men film franchise, although to be fair, so was 2017, with only the critically acclaimed Logan hitting theaters. 2018’s sole X-Men universe project was comedic antihero sequel Deadpool 2, which debuted to quite positive reviews from both critics and fans. Horror-tinged X-Men flick The New Mutants was of course originally supposed to release this spring, but ended up being pushed back until 2019 at the behest of the studio.

With no other films set to release in 2018, it might seem odd that Fox even bothered to give the X-Men franchise a presence at SDCC 2018. Still, a presence it will have, in the form of a special panel designed to focus on the success of Deadpool 2, specifically its extended cut. It’s unclear exactly who associated with the film will be present, but - based on past Deadpool con events - it seems a good bet that Ryan Reynolds will participate in some form, likely in character as Deadpool.

Reynolds has already said previously that a solo Deadpool 3 film is unlikely to happen, and that his focus going forward is on writer/director Drew Goddard’s upcoming X-Force movie. While Fox’s panel isn’t advertised as having anything to do with X-Force, it’s not at all hard to imagine the studio throwing fans a bone and revealing some exciting new info about the film before the presentation is all said and done. So, when and where will Deadpool take over the Comic-Con stage? The answer is Saturday, July 21, at 5:15pm PST/8:15pm EST in Hall H.

In addition to the panel, Deadpool fans attending SDCC in person should be sure to remember that Deadpool 2’s uncut screening is set to take place at 10pm PST/1am EST in the Horton Grand Theatre. Fans are encouraged to attend in costume, just for that much more fun. Dubbed the “Super Duper Cut” by Reynolds, this version of Deadpool 2  features 15 minutes of previously unseen footage.

Besides the possibility of X-Force info being dropped at Fox’s Deadpool 2 panel, fans might also want to keep their eyes and ears out for an unexpected reveal or two about 2019’s two X-Men franchise films, the aforementioned New Mutants and Dark Phoenix. The fact that Dark Phoenix doesn’t have any announced presence at SDCC this year is a bit weird in and of itself, as the film hits theaters in February, well-before Comic-Con 2019. Whatever ends up happening at the panel, attendees should feel free to go out for chimichangas afterward, in Wade Wilson’s honor.
