San Diego Comic-Con 2018 starts soon, so we break down all the movie and TV show trailers that are expected to be released over the weekend. Comic-Con International in San Diego is one of the biggest entertainment events of the year. Not only do fans get a chance to meet the creators of their favorite geek-geared media, but movie studios and TV networks bring some of their biggest upcoming projects to show off on the Hall H stage - and generate buzz among the fans and press in attendance. One of the best ways to generate that buzz is to unveil a new trailer or exclusive footage.

This year, Marvel Studios may be skipping Comic-Con, but there are plenty of other movies and TV series - both established and upcoming - that are expected to have a presence during the event. Warner Bros. has their usual Saturday morning panel where they’ll preview some of their upcoming releases, while 20th Century Fox will be bringing their previously released X-Men universe movie, Deadpool 2, for a panel and a screening of the extended cut. Plus, The CW’s Arrowverse shows will host their own panels and preview the upcoming seasons of their various superhero adventures.

Of course, for those who follow along at home, the trailers are the highlight of Comic-Con - at least, when they’re released online. So, with Comic-Con kicking off this week, we look at the lineup of movies and TV shows confirmed to have a presence at the event and predict which ones will debut new trailers. We’ll keep this post updated throughout the week as we get more information about what to expect from Comic-Con 2018.

Movie Trailers To Expect At Comic-Con 2018

The first big movie panel is actually Wednesday night, the evening before Comic-Con officially kicks off, with New Line Cinema’s “Scarediego,” at 9:30-10:30pm PST. The studio is expected to preview their upcoming Conjuring universe spinoff, The Nun. New Line debuted the first teaser trailer for The Nun earlier this summer, so the studio will likely unveil a full length trailer for the movie. New Line will also preview their upcoming sequel IT: Chapter Two. However, since the movie only recently began filming, it’s unlikely they’ll have much, if any, footage to screen. If they do, it will most likely be a Comic-Con exclusive. Otherwise, New Line may release a brief teaser for the IT sequel, perhaps revealing the grown-up Losers’ Club in costume and/or a shot of Pennywise.

On Thursday, the biggest movie panel is 20th Century Fox’s The Predator, at 10:30-11:30am PST. Fox has already released a teaser trailer and full-length trailer for The Predator, so while the studio may unveil another trailer for the film at Comic-Con, it’s more likely they’ll screen clips and footage at the panel that may or may not be released to the public. Fox may only release a fraction to the public if any. However, those in attendance will no doubt offer their thoughts of what’s screened and may provide descriptions of whatever’s screened.

Friday has three big movie panels: Universal Pictures’ Glass and Halloween at 3:45-4:45 pm PST, Bumblebee at 5-6pm PST, and Sony Pictures’ panel at 6:15-7:15pm PST. Given all the teases we’ve seen from it in the last few weeks, we’ll almost surely get the first trailer for Glass, M. Night Shyamalan’s followup to both Unbreakable and Split. Further, though we’ve seen a trailer for Halloween, it’s possible we’ll get another new trailer or clip from the upcoming revival. We’ve also already seen a teaser trailer for Bumblebee, so a full-length trailer is likely to debut during the panel. And as for Sony’s panel, they’ll be previewing Venom and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, both of which have unveiled full-length trailers already. As such, Sony may release new trailers or clips from either film, or screen Comic-Con exclusive footage during their panel that won’t be released online. If that’s the case, Screen Rant will have you covered with footage descriptions.

Saturday is the final day for big movie panels, with Warner Bros. set for the morning (10:30am-12:30pm PST) and Deadpool 2 (5:15-6:15pm PST) as well as the Deadpool 2: Uncut screening at night (10pm-12am PST). Warner Bros. has already confirmed the first Aquaman trailer will debut at Comic-Con, and rumors point to the first teaser for Shazam! also being unveiled, though it’s unclear whether that will be released online. Warner Bros. may also tease Wonder Woman 1984 with some early footage, but that is much less likely to be officially released. In non-superhero related movies, Warner Bros. may also reveal new trailers for upcoming releases like Mowgli, Fantastic Beasts: The Crime of Grindelwald, The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, or Godzilla: King of Monsters. As for the Deadpool 2 panel, it’s unlikely there will be any new trailers, unless it’s for the film’s home release.

TV Trailers To Expect At Comic-Con 2018

The big television panels kick off on the first day of Comic-Con with Doctor Who at 11:45am-12:45pm PST on Thursday, which will preview the upcoming season 11. It was thought that the first footage for Doctor Who would be unveiled during Comic-Con, but the initial sneak peek at Doctor Who season 11 arrived during the World Cup final. Still, that teaser was less than a minute, so the BBC series will no doubt have a longer trailer for con attendees that will be released to the public.

Also on Thursday is Syfy’s Nightflyers (3-3:50pm PST), which may reveal a new trailer after the first was unveiled earlier this year, and AMC’s Better Call Saul (3:30-4:30pm PST). The Better Call Saul season 4 trailer was unveiled recently so it seems more likely the panel will screen part of or the entirety of the season premiere. Unfortunately, that makes it less likely a new trailer or clip will be released online. Closing out Thursday is Netflix and Marvel’s Iron Fist season 2 (6-7pm PST), where the first trailer will almost assuredly be revealed - along with a premiere date. The panel may also screen footage from the new season, but that wouldn’t be released online.

Kicking off Friday of Comic-Con is DC Universe’s Young Justice: Outsiders (10-11am PST), though it’s unclear whether the show will debut a trailer. It won’t be the first DC Universe original - since that honor belongs to Titans - but it’s the only project from the forthcoming streaming service to have a panel at this year’s con. As such, a teaser of some kind may be revealed.

Friday is a big day for AMC’s comic-based shows, with panels for The Walking Dead (12:15-1:15pm PST), Fear the Walking Dead (11:15am-12:15pm PST), and Preacher (7:30-8:30pm PST). Since Preacher is in the middle of its third season, the show may unveil a midseason trailer to preview what’s to come. As for the Walking Dead universe shows, both are on hiatus at the moment. The first trailer for The Walking Dead season 9 is sure to debut at Comic-Con, as well as the first trailer for the second half of Fear the Walking Dead season 4, both of which will no doubt be released online.

Saturday will be dominated by The CW’s superhero lineup as each of their five DC Comics series is set for its own panel, and each will likely release some kind of teaser for their upcoming seasons: Black Lightning season 2 (11-11:45am PST), Supergirl season 4 (3:30-4:15pm PST), Arrow season 7 (4:15-5pm PST), Legends of Tomorrow season 4 (5-5:45pm PST), and The Flash season 5 (5:45-6:30pm PST. Or, The CW may preview all the shows together with a universe trailer that offers new footage from each show. Further Syfy is bringing Krypton season 2 (12-12:50pm PST) and may unveil a new trailer, as well as a full-length trailer for Deadly Class (6-6:50pm PST), the network’s upcoming comic adaptation from the Russo brothers. Meanwhile, FOX will almost assuredly debut the first trailer for The Gifted season 2 (2:30-3:15pm PST). Plus, the network will be previewing The Orville season 2 (4-4:50pm PST) and may have a teaser of some kind on offer.

The last day of Comic-Con, Sunday, has a few notable TV panels to look out for, including The CW’s Supernatural season 14 (10:30-11:30am PST) and Riverdale season 3 (11:45am-12:45pm PST). Each show will likely debut a short teaser for their respective upcoming seasons. Plus, FX will be previewing Sons of Anarchy spinoff Mayans MC (1-2pm PST) and Legion season 3 (2:15-3:15pm PST). A Mayans MC teaser trailer was revealed earlier this year, so a full-length trailer may be revealed. However, since Legion season 2 only recently wrapped up, it seems unlikely there will be any footage from season 3 to showcase.

With Comic-Con just a few short days away, there’s plenty to look forward to. As we’ve outlined here, even for those not attending the event, there will be a number of trailers to keep an eye out for. Plus, beyond what we’ve listed here, there are sure to be some surprise reveals - as there always are at San Diego Comic-Con. So, stay tuned to Screen Rant for full coverage of the con!
