As the unofficial King of Halloween, Arrow star Colton Haynes is back to shock and scare with his sexy Marge Simpson costume for this year’s spooky season.

With Haynes’ elaborate costumes always astounding year on year, his foray into Halloween is best-remembered for his 2014 interpretation of Princess Fiona from Shrek. He has also pulled off impressive costumes as Ursula from The Little Mermaid, Eyeore, Nemo, and last year Miss Piggy. Alongside the likes of Heidi Klum for taking Halloween very seriously, Haynes may just have topped himself with a terrifying tribute to Matt Groening’s yellow family.

Taking to Instagram, Haynes showed off a plunging green neckline, googly eyes, prosthetic breasts, and full foam face mask. No detail was spared; from Marge’s orange pearls to her signature tower of blue hair, it was all there. Safe to say, you will never be able to look at The Simpsons matriarch in the same way again:

The transformation may have looked amazing, but according to Haynes, it didn’t come without its drawbacks. His Instagram story showed the creation of his marge outfit - courtesy of Erik Porn @erikporn of Bitemares Inc - and then went into her slow destruction too. Alongside problems with his sight, it wasn’t long before Haynes declared it was too hot for Marge’s bouffant wig, while he went on to tell Us Weekly exactly how uncomfortable his costume was:

The 29-year-old definitely took Halloween to the next level, and clearly put in some serious thought to host the Freixenet Cava 2nd Annual Black Magic Halloween Affair. He was there alongside fiance Jeff Leatham, who was dressed as a homage to Top Gun. Leatham apparently found the whole experience hilarious, but shared a supporting message of love to Haynes on his social media. Although the Teen Wolf star was definitely dressed as Mrs. Simpson that night, it didn’t stop him wearing his engagement ring to Leatham to the event.

“[It took] five hours. [There’s] a lot of tape in areas you don’t want tape. My balls hurt. It was so fun. I can’t see. It’s worth it! I actually had to mess up the costume. It looked way better, but I couldn’t see [with the fake eyes] so I cut them out myself.”

For those wondering how you take off such an elaborate costume, Haynes’ Instagram later showed him taking a dip to wash off the paint with a lot less of the costume intact. After doing the Halloween walk of shame, the only option was to hop in the pool, where Colton continued to twerk the night away with faux breasts intact. All we can say is ¡Ay, caramba!
