Chris Evans has an idea for his next movie: a buddy comedy with Avengers: Endgame co-star Chris Hemsworth. Avengers: Endgame, which continues to break box office records, marks the seventh Marvel film for both Evans and Hemsworth, and they’ve appeared together in four films total. Avengers: Endgame provided a definitive end for Evans’ Steve Rogers, while Thor’s future is a little more up in the air. Like Evans, Hemsworth’s Marvel contract is up, and he’s said that a potential fourth Thor film would need a “great script” to convince him to revisit the character.

In addition to its impressive box office haul, Avengers: Endgame also provided a satisfying conclusion to The Infinity Saga, capping off the stories of the original Avengers: Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Black Widow, and Hulk. The film ends with both Iron Man and Black Widow having sacrificed themselves for the cause, while Steve travels back in time to live out his life with first love Peggy Carter. Meanwhile, Thor, Hawkeye, and Hulk are left to carry on without their friends. This leaves some creative wiggle room for its stars.

In an interview with Variety, Hemsworth mentioned how well he and Evans got along while working together in the MCU. He spoke of his close relationships with Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, and Mark Ruffalo, but then went on to mention Evans specifically, pointing out that they have “a real brotherly bond.” When prompted later on, Evans agreed, especially on the two being separated for the Avengers: Endgame press tour, which he considered “such bullsh*t” as they “had too much fun together.” He also shared his pitch for a future film the two could star in together, saying “I would love to do one of those ’80s buddy comedies, where we could shed the characters we are known for.”

Easier said the done, though both Evans and Hemsworth have substantial credits outside of the Marvel universe. Evans broke out back in 2001’s Not Another Teen Movie and starred in Gifted with Jenny Slate in 2017. He’ll soon appear in the murder mystery Knives Out with Daniel Craig and Lakeith Stanfield, his first on-screen role post-MCU. Meanwhile, Hemsworth has been in several big films over the last few years, including The Cabin in the Woods, Snow White and the Huntsman, and Paul Feig’s all-female Ghostbusters. He’ll also star in Men in Black International with Thor: Ragnarok co-star Tessa Thompson.

Along with the characters and stories featured in the MCU, fans also love behind-the-scenes banter between the stars of the films. They often tease each other on social media and share funny stories about their time on set, which means fans would probably be on board for a buddy comedy with Evans and Hemsworth. Hemsworth would also come to a potential film with experience in the genre, since he’s starring in an upcoming buddy cop movie with Tiffany Haddish. If an actual film comes to fruition, it wouldn’t be the first time the internet willed something into existence. Plus, after the emotional upheaval of Avengers: Endgame, fans might enjoy seeing Evans and Hemsworth in something a little lighter.
