Sideshow has unveiled its new life-sized K-2SO figure from the Star Wars anthology film Rogue One at San Diego Comic Con 2017. The lovable re-programmed Imperial Security Droid and sidekick to rebel pilot Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) acted as the sarcastic comic relief in the film, similar to other droids in the Star Wars universe like CP30 and R2-D2 from the original and prequel trilogy and BB-8 from The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi.

The character made his debut in Lucasfilm’s 2016 film Rogue One, the first anthology entry in the Star Wars franchise. The film focused on a group of rebels including Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), Cassian Andor, Chirrut Îmwe (Donnie Yen), Baze Malbus (Jiang Wen), Bodhi Rook (Riz Ahmed) and the droid K-2SO (Alan Tudyk) on a mission to steal the plans for the Death Star, the Galactic Empire’s superweapon. The incredibly detailed and huge 1:1 scale life-sized figure towered above the other Star Wars figures at the Sideshow booth, standing at 7 feet and 8 inches tall, and can be seen at booth #1929 at SDCC.

A new post on Sideshow reveals a first look at the Rogue One droid. The nimble grey and yellow droid has his signature glowing round eyes and even features scuff marks and scratches making it look like he’s just stepped out of battle. Matt Bischoff, Sideshow Project Manager, commented on the realistic K-2SO figure. Here is what he said about the stand-out figure and it’s growing popularity, plus a gallery of people taking selfies with the figure at SDCC:

“We make collectibles in all shapes and sizes, but there’s no denying this guy stands out, people always love to come by our booth and get photos with the life-size pieces. You visit Sideshow, and you get a pic with R2-D2 or Boba Fett. We all do it, even the Sideshow crew. But, I’ve already seen so many K-2SO selfies! He’s going to be in everyone’s Facebook profile picture this weekend.”

Sideshow is known for making highly realistic figures of all shapes and sizes including life-sized figures of Han Solo in Carbonite, which debuted at SDCC in 2013, bounty hunter Boba Fett, a Stormtrooper, droid R2-D2, the Jedi Yoda and even the dark lord himself Darth Vader with prices ranging from $780 to $8,900. While it’s not known yet if the K-2SO figure will be up for sale in the future, you can still take tons of selfies and photos of the stand-out Rogue One character at this year’s SDCC.
