The cast of The CW’s upcoming Charmed reboot is finally filling out, as one of the young stars of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle has joined the series. The CW has had years of success with both original and adapted series fitting into a variety of genres. While superhero shows are currently the network’s bread and butter, they’re slowly getting back into the supernatural game. There’s, of course, Supernatural, currently in season 13. A pilot order for Wayward Sisters may finally give the series a spinoff. And while The Vampire Diaries is gone, The Originals is set to air its final season soon.

Depending on how the series is received, those shows will soon be joined by an updated take on the long-running ’90s series Charmed. Revolving around three sisters who just happen to be witches, the reboot should blend a healthy amount of nostalgia with the current vogue of all things magical. Now, the first member of the cast has been revealed.

Deadline is reporting that Ser’Darius Blain has come aboard Charmed as Galvin, the boyfriend of one of the show’s three leads. Blain was most recently in the smash hit from Sony Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, where he played the young version of Kevin Hart’s character Fridge. Here’s the official description for the character:

We first had an inkling of Galvin last week when the character descriptions for the Charmed reboot arrived. Mostly focused on the three new leads, Macy, Mel, and Madison, the descriptions nevertheless teased some of the supporting characters. In the show, Galvin will be the boyfriend of Macy meaning Blain should have plenty of time to shine.

[Galvin is] the ideal boyfriend, funny, mellow, in touch with his emotions, totally on board to follow his lady across the country for her dream job. An aspiring filmmaker who has yet to catch the break he’s sure is just around the corner.

While Blain’s role in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle wasn’t huge, it doesn’t hurt that the movie has been so successful. Jumanji made a record previously held by Titanic when it became the first December release to win the weekend in February. Already, the sequel is scheduled and will arrive in 2019 opposite of Star Wars: Episode IX. Meanwhile, the film and Spider-Man: Homecoming helped Sony after a number of big bombs. And with a bright future ahead of the young franchise, Blain is sure to continue seeing a career boost.

There’s no telling how Charmed will fare at this point, but it will replace The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina TV series that recently left The CW for Netflix. Young women and teen girls have long been a huge demographic for The CW, so channeling the zeitgeist with a trio of feminist witches is certainly a smart move. And with Blain coming aboard, expect the three leads to be announced very soon.
