New promo art for the upcoming Captain Marvel movie highlights Captain Marvel and the rest of the Starforce team. Captain Marvel will be the 21st entry to the Marvel Cinematic Universe which will focus on Carol Danvers attempting to diffuse a war between two alien races called the Skrull and the Kree. The movie will be directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck.

One of the biggest elements of the marketing for Captain Marvel is the idea of Danvers’ double life. In the trailers for Captain Marvel, Danvers is seen as a Kree warrior, or as she would call herself a “noble warrior hero”, who is also conflicted because of memories she has from a past life. While these memories consist of her childhood and her time in the US Air Force, Danvers is more familiar with her life as a Kree warrior on the Starforce team.

A new promo image from the Twitter Captain Marvel News shows off Captain Marvel with the rest of the Starforce team. From left to right the image includes Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva, Djimon Hounsou as Korath, Jude Law as Mar-Vell, Rune Temte as Bron-Char, Brie Larson as Captain Marvel (or her Starforce name Vers), and Algenis Perez Soto as Att-Lass. The full Tweet with the promo art can be seen in full below.

Each character in Starforce made their comic book debut in a different year, but the supervillain team first appeared together in 1992. The team has appeared in several comic books over the years, and some of the characters from Starforce have already appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Korath for instance had a small role in Guardians of the Galaxy. The villain from Guardians of the Galaxy, Ronan the Accuser, will also make a return in Captain Marvel, although this film is set before his death.

While the Marvel Cinematic Universe will likely make changes to Captain Marvel’s origin story, the biggest change from the comics so far is that she is working with Starforce. In the comics, Starforce was only ever an antagonist to Captain Marvel, but in the movie, she will be part of the supervillain team before transforming into the hero fans are familiar with. Captain Marvel is currently one of the most anticipated movies of 2019, and many comic book fans are likely eager to see how Danvers, and possibly Mar-Vell, turn against Ronan and Starforce to stop the Kree and Skrull war.
