Fans are wishing a new fan-made poster for Captain Marvel was the movie’s official poster. Marvel has yet to officially release any art or images of Brie Larson in-costume as Captain Marvel, other than concept art that was shown to Comic-Con International attendees last summer, but Captain Marvel set photos have been keeping fans occupied. Larson has been seen multiple times in a blue-and-green suit but not in a suit with her classic red-and-blue colors yet.

Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel takes place in the 1990s and follows Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers, a U.S. Air Force pilot who develops superpowers after having her DNA fused with an alien. The film also stars Jude Law as Mar-Vell, the original Captain Marvel, along with a number of established characters from previous installments in the MCU, such as Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace), Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), and Korath the Pursuer (Djimon Hounsou). And while there haven’t been any official photos of those characters either, that hasn’t stopped Marvel fans from making their own fan-mode posters for the film.

Marvel fan Neil Davies posted an image of a Captain Marvel poster on Instagram (below) which shows Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel flying through the sky, surrounded by jets. The poster includes the tagline, “Earth’s Mightiest Hero,” which is taken from the phrase that is usually used to describe the Avengers. The character, wearing her red-and-blue costume, is sporting her long red sash, which was missing from the set photos of Brie Larson in the green and gray suit. Since Danvers took the mantle of Captain Marvel in 2012, the character is normally seen wearing a shorter sash, while the one in the poster wears one similar to the sash associated with Danvers’ first superhero identity, Ms. Marvel, which originated in 1977.

This art is exactly what some fans have been hoping for while waiting for Marvel to release an official poster, and this one heavily resembles the character’s comic book cover art which is why the artist makes it a point to mention it being a homage to comic book artist and illustrator Adam Hughes. It’s unclear exactly what the final costume in Captain Marvel will look like, but it’s been suggested that it won’t be the one spotted in the set photos and that it will have the character’s classic colors. After all, like her MCU predecessors, Danvers’ costume is expected to evolve. It’s worth noting, though, that Mar-Vell had once debuted with a green and white outfit before being radically redesigned with an entirely new look as well.

If the recently leaked Avengers 4 art is the real deal, then it could reveal what Carol Danvers’ final costume will look like at the end of 2019’s Captain Marvel movie. As the film is now less than a year away, it’s possible that the studio could release the first look at Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel somewhat soon.
