Captain America: Civil War will kickoff Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, via a storyline that will split Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in half - with Iron Man/Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) leading those who are in favor of allowing the world’s governments to better regulate all superhero activity and Captain America/Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) leading those against the increase in government oversight - even as it introduces two key players joining the MCU for Phase 3: T’Challa a.k.a. Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and Peter Parker a.k.a. Spider-Man (Tom Holland). For these reasons, it’s of little surprise that Marvel Studios is going all out on on the project, from everything to the film’s running time to directors Anthony and Joe Russo’s (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) use of IMAX camera technology to create (literally) bigger action than any Marvel movie released to date has boasted.
Civil War got an extra boost this week (at the time of writing this), with Marvel having lifted the embargo on set visit reports for the production (something our frequent readers have no doubt noticed). However, the fun’s not done quite yet, as far as this latest wave of Civil War marketing goes - seeing as the film’s second theatrical trailer is going to be released online, tomorrow. Marvel has thus released two ’trailer announcement’ videos for the global Civil War trailer launch tomorrow, with the previews highlighting the various members of #TeamCap and #TeamIronMan, respectively.
Of course, the big question right now is: what, exactly, will the second Civil War trailer reveal? No doubt, many fans are hoping that the trailer will include at least a quick glimpse of Holland in his Spider-Man costume, similar to how the final trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron offered a quick (but tantalizing) glimpse of Vision (Paul Bettany) when it was released, back in 2015. Beyond that, the second Civil War trailer ought to provide some additional insight into the mystery “incident” that sets in motion the Civl War storyline - scripted by the Captain America: The First Avenger and Winter Soldier screenwriting duo Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely - while further examining how Bucky Barnes/Winter Solider (Sebastian Stan) complicates that situation for Steve, as the ex-Hydra brainwashed assassin finds himself being hunted by the governments of the world. Beyond that: perhaps a better look at Black Panther in action (among other superheroes and/or Avengers)?
