It’s hardly surprising that merchandising and filmmaking go hand in hand – George Lucas was something of a trendsetter back in 1976 when he had the foresight to ask that he retain all merchandising rights associated with Star Wars. 20th Century Fox happily agreed to this request, unaware of what a colossal boon either Star Wars or any of the related merchandising would be.
Since that time, studios have taken note. No longer will a filmmaker be able to casually retain all merchandising rights for their film. With comic book superhero films what they are in today’s market, Disney is just one studio that takes their merchandising very, very seriously – Spider-Man alone leads the race with $1.3 billion in retail sales and that number will likely only rise.
With Marvel’s upcoming slate of films due in theaters over the next few years, they’re eager to show off some of their upcoming merchandise. The forthcoming Captain America: Civil War is topping a lot of must see lists and as such, the movie’s newly unveiled figurines will be catching children’s and collector’s eyes alike.

Though the figurines won’t be available to purchase until May, Hasbro has provided a lengthy rundown of its stock – the images for which, you can see above. Among the toys is the addition of a Black Widow figurine to the Marvel Avengers Titan Hero 12 inch line, both 3.75 and 6-inch Legends Series figures and a 2.5-inch Miniverse two-pack series of figures.
As far as the Captain America 3.75 Legend Series goes, Captain America with Motorcycle will be available as well as Falcon with Flight Tech and Redwing. There will be new additions to the Marvel Legend 6-inch line, including Captain America, Black Panther and Iron Man.
In their final offering for the time being, Hasbro’s Captain America: Civil War Miniverse 2.5-inch Figure 2-Pack Assortment line has been expanded. The new additions here include Crossbones and Captain America, Falcon and War Machine, Hawkeye and Black Panther, Iron Man and Black Widow as well as Winter Soldier and Vision.
There’s enough here to keep even the most dedicated collectors busy for hours, though one of the biggest differences with these Captain America: Civil War figurines from the comics on which they’re based is that Redwing is a robot drone instead of an actual Falcon. That may take some getting used to for some, but the fact that the new Black Panther action figure looks so great will surely help keep anticipation levels high for the theatrical release of Civil War.
