Video games have long attempted to appropriate the prestige of a Hollywood motion picture, and no franchise has tried harder at this than Call of Duty. Nearly every installment of the series has featured celebrity voice actors. Whether they’ve drafted Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2) to create a rousing soundtrack, or injected Kevin Spacey’s (House of Cards, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare) eerie likeness, it seems like the appeal of having a Hollywood name on their product is too enticing to pass up. The names attached also provide a secondary bookmark to differentiate each iteration.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare goes a step further to have players dogfighting in space. The series has certainly come a long way from its roots of digital historic battle re-enactment, but that doesn’t negate its need for a fan-friendly face to legitimize the proceedings.

A video on Activision’s Call of Duty Facebook page revealed none other than Kit Harington (Game of Thrones) in full motion capture getup as “the face of the enemy.” The reveal is blink-and-you’ll-miss-it short, but it’s likely that we’ll get more information later this week during E3 (the Electronic Entertainment Expo).

Most are familiar with Harington from his role as the honorable Jon Snow, so it will be interesting to see him play a character who is likely doing the right things for the wrong reasons, instead of a character who is doing the wrong things for the right reasons.

Not much is known about the plot at this point, and that extends to Harington’s role in it, but an educated guess points to a far-reaching conspiracy that leads to cataclysmic disaster, calling forth the most elite soldiers (this time with robot sidekicks) to perform their heroic duty.

It’s hard to get a more expansive setting than space, so it remains to be seen how Call of Duty will manage to top itself moving forward. What’s bigger than Infinite? However they manage it, it’s sure to be accompanied by some big names acting through motion capture to a plot that may be the least memorable aspect of the game franchise.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will be available November 4, 2016 in both Legacy and Deluxe Editions – preorders will include Call of Duty Modern Warfare: Remastered, an HD reworking the title that kickstarted the modern era of Call of Duty games.
