Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is being made available to free for PS Plus members, with the game’s free availability coming into place as of 11 June, 2018. The game was a major success for the Call of Duty series, becoming a mainstay in the first-person shooter world and further winning back fans who had been disappointed by other recent installments of the series.

However, soon the game is to be usurped when it comes to the Black Ops sub-series of Call of Duty. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is just around the corner in the grand scheme of things, and the title looks set to change the dynamics of the Black Ops range altogether. As one such example, the game will not contain a single player campaign, but will instead embrace the trend of the Battle Royale with its own version of the game mode.

With that in mind, it may well be that the time has come to give out the game on a trial basis for PS Plus members. That’s precisely what was announced as part of the Sony E3 2018 press conference, with the company confirming that the title is going to be a bonus free game for PS Plus members this month.

The deal will run for exactly a month, from 11 June, 2018 through to 11 July, 2018, and that should give gamers plenty of time to enjoy the title. Although the multiplayer gameplay will no doubt be the biggest calling, it may well also be worth players checking out the campaign as well, particularly given that this year’s Call of Duty game will not include one.

That’s not to say that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be devoid of content, however. The Blackout game mode will likely be a suitable time sink for Call of Duty fans, perhaps even more so than the campaign would have been, while modes such as Zombies will be making a return, albeit with some exclusive content locked behind a season pass.

Even so, those players who enjoyed the near future setting of the Black Ops games may want to pick this up on a whim and complete the campaign over the next month. After all, if Black Ops 4 finds success without a campaign in tow it may be some time before Treyarch adds another one into the mix.
