In preparation for Netflix’s Stranger Things season 3, Burger King is bringing a burger from the Upside Down, and it might be exactly what you are imagining. It feels like a lifetime since Stranger Things season 2 was released, but it’s only a matter of weeks until we go back to Hawkins and catch up with Eleven and the rest of the characters.

Set less than a year after the events of the second season, Stranger Things season 3 will take us to the summer of 1985, where things are starting to change, not only in Hawkins (which now has a brand new mall) but also among the characters. Of course, there will be new threats to remind us that evil doesn’t end, it just evolves. All eight episodes will be available on July 4th, and Netflix is already hard at work promoting this new season with the help of other brands, the latest one being the fast-food chain Burger King.

There are a lot of elements from the Stranger Things mythology that brands can take and make something that will make fans go wild. Burger King chose the Upside Down in general, and adapted it to their most famous product: the Whopper. There are many things that come to mind when thinking about a burger from the Upside Down, but Burger King didn’t go for something too complicated, as you can see on the promo video below.

That’s right: the Upside Down Whopper is literally a burger turned upside down, and that’s pretty much what’s different about it. The meat, condiments, and bun are the exact same as a regular Whopper, but it will be served in Burger King’s classic packaging from the mid-80s, to follow the vibe of the series. The burger will be sold starting on June 21 at select locations in Miami, Houston, Boston, Atlanta, Dallas, Philadelphia, Chicago, San Francisco, New York, and Los Angeles, and those restaurants will also have limited-edition ketchup packets, T-shirts, crowns, and pins.

Why wait until season three to bring a Stranger Things inspired product? Well, the newly established Starcourt Mall in Hawkins will be a very important scenario this season, so having brands like Burger King and Coca-Cola joining the marketing train is part of the summer, fun-at-the-mall vibe Netflix has been going for so far.

Fans have already voiced their disappointment and a couple of jokes on this Upside Down Whopper, saying they had one years before Stranger Things was created or that they were accidentally served one at some point. Although the recipe is said to be the same, we won’t know for sure if there really isn’t anything new or special to it until it comes out. In the meantime, we can begin a rewatch of Stranger Things.
