Ever since Tom Holland’s Spider-Man made his initial MCU appearance in a trailer for Captain America: Civil War, fans have been looking for more of the wall-crawler. Every new trailer or clip potentially gives them another shot at seeing Spidey in action, even though not all of them necessarily deliver the same level of excitement as his first arrival.
The latest international trailer for Civil War does feature everyone’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, though some fans will certainly miss him. It turns out that he only appears in one shot in the trailer, and he’s not even alone for it.
The trailer, which you can view above, is only a 15-second tease of the film with the sort of music that you don’t usually find in movie trailers. Spider-Man appears at the 12-second mark, on foot instead of swinging through the air. In case you’ve looked and still haven’t caught a glimpse of the famed wall-crawler, he’s on the Team Iron Man side of the wide group battle shot, as the two sides run toward each other.
As brief as this Spidey sighting is, at least we now know that the character has a much more significant role in the film than originally believed. You’ll recall that reports put it at around 30 minutes of Spider-Man total, with about 10 minutes of that being out of the costume as Peter Parker. The fairly glowing early reviews for Civil War have praised the character as well, so Spider-fans definitely have something to look forward to.
One thing that this brief glimpse of Spider-Man does give us is a better idea of how that group battle is going to flow. We’ve seen glimpses of it in pretty much every trailer, with no clear idea of the order that the little peeks occur in. If Spider-Man is on the ground in the scene where the two groups are running at each other, it obviously comes after his surprise entrance where he captured Captain America’s shield. It’s not much, but at least it’s something.
Fans are obviously looking forward to seeing Spider-Man (and the rest of the heroes) in Civil War. Fortunately, they don’t have much longer to wait. We’ll likely get a few more glimpses of the Webhead in the weeks between now and the film’s release, and hopefully they’ll be more substantial than a single second of screentime.
