Is an official announcement regarding the Breaking Bad movie coming next week? Here’s why we think viewers should be prepared for something on Tuesday, July 9.

Breaking Bad ended its five-year run on AMC in 2013. In 2018, rumors started to swirl that series creator Vince Gilligan was toying with the idea of a Breaking Bad sequel movie. The film was finally confirmed in February 2019 but production had already started three months prior. Gilligan has played coy regarding the plot details, although the movie is expected to follow Jesse Pinkman following the ending of Breaking Bad, with several thought-dead characters reported to be returning.

Actor Aaron Paul has yet to officially confirm that he is reprising his role as Jesse for the movie. But just last week, he shared an image on his Instagram of two donkeys with the caption that stated, “soon.” Even more interesting is the fact that Bryan Cranston, who portrayed Walter White in the TV series, posted the same photo and caption. Many viewers assumed that the post was a tease to the upcoming Breaking Bad film. That assumption has come up again as Paul and Cranston shared another photo exactly one week after the first. Following that pattern, it seems likely that a third tease will arrive next Tuesday. But, with the rate going from “soon” to “even sooner”, could it be that a Breaking Bad movie announcement is on the way?

The second posting features Paul and Cranston walking through ankle-deep water with the caption stating, “very soon.” The pair are clearly using their social media presence to tease an upcoming project, and it’s easy to assume that it’s the Breaking Bad movie. The sight of the two actors together will have fans freaking out at the possibility that they’re reuniting.

While Paul has dodged his involvement with the movie up to this point, Cranston has claimed that he would be interested in reprising his role as Walt. Cranston’s name did appear on a reported cast list for the Breaking Bad movie but the actor has yet to confirm if he actually has a part in the film. If he does reprise his role, that could indicate that Walt survived the series finale after what seemed to be a fatal gunshot wound. The other option is to have Walt appear through flashbacks or dreams.

The Breaking Bad sequel movie has been going under the working title Greenbrier. Working titles are usually changed before the final cut of a project makes its debut to the public. The next announcement could be the official title and release date. The feature film will be released on Netflix as they have the rights due to their partnership with Gilligan. The movie will also air on AMC, the home network of Breaking Bad.
