A big part of reality series Big Brother is the physical and mental competitions. The show, which will be airing its 22nd season, puts contestants from all across America into a massive house where they must live with one another throughout an entire summer. They have no access to the outside world, and are left to their devices as they scheme, plot, and forge friendships and alliances while being filmed 24/7. The idea is not to get voted out by your fellow housemates and be one of the final two left standing to plead their cases to a jury of evicted houseguests for the chance to win a half-million dollars.

What can really help players achieve this is winning competitions. These range from physical and endurance comps to quiz- and puzzle-based challenges. So who have been the biggest competition beasts thus far?

Vanessa Rousso (Season 17)

Playing in only one season, Rousso rocked the house by winning an impressive seven competitions. These include four Head of Household (HoH) wins, which afford the ability to choose the people up for eviction that week, and three Power of Vetos (POV) which gives the holder the choice to remove someone from the eviction block, including themselves.

Despite all of these wins, along with an amazing social game and pulling a lot of the strings behind the scenes, Rousso still didn’t win. She placed third.

Nicole Franzel (Season 16, 18)

Playing twice, Franzel cumulatively won seven competitions over the two seasons, including two Battle of the Blocks (BOTB), a competition introduced in the later seasons that allowed houseguests who were named for eviction to battle their way back out of the hot seat.

She placed seventh on Big Brother 16 but when she returned for season 18, she ended up winning, notably against another competition beast, Paul Abrahamian. He was running the house for much of the game but ultimately lost out to the jury who felt Franzel was more deserving.

Kaycee Clark (Season 20)

Winner of her season, Clark kept annihilating competition after competition and that, along with her strong social game and strategic play, helped her ink out the win. She won two HoHs but her biggest achievement was winning an impressive five PoVs, giving her a total of seven wins throughout the season.

While many felt it was Tyler Crispen’s season to lose, Clark’s ability to win competitions really helped pad her resume and convince the jury to choose her as a winner in the close 5-4 vote.

Dan Gheesling (Season 10, 14)

While he “only” won seven competitions across two seasons, Gheesling had a knack for winning when he really needed to. Because of this, he not only won the game when he first played, but he was also runner-up the second time, beat by his young mentee Ian in a 6-1 vote.

In season 10, Gheesling was HoH three times and veto holder twice. And in season 14, he was only HoH once and won one veto. However, he didn’t really need to win because whoever won, he was controlling them anyway!

Brendon Villegas (Season 12, 13)

Meeting his wife on the show and playing twice right alongside her in a tight alliance, Villegas and Rachel Reilly dominated the game both times with tons of wins. In season 12, he won HoH once and three vetos. In season 13 when he returned to try and place higher than sixth, he won three vetos during his short time there for a total of seven competition wins. In fact, he set the record for the most PoV wins across two seasons (now broken).

This didn’t matter much since it seemed that any time Villegas didn’t win, Reilly did. He still ended up getting voted out in ninth place the second time around, though, making it to the jury both times.

Frankie Grande (Season 16)

It almost seemed like every competition was Grande’s to win because he kept winning again and again, to the tune of eight times in one season. That consisted of a whopping five HoH wins and three vetos. He also won BOTB once.

One of Grande’s most notable wins was when his alliance felt he betrayed them. They abandoned him in what was supposed to be a two-man challenge, leaving him to participate on his own. Frantic and focused, he pulled out the win anyway, much to their surprise (and the opposing team’s embarrassment!)

Rachel Reilly (Season 12, 13)

One of the top-two females ever to play when it comes to competition performance, Reilly won an incredible eight competitions during her two seasons of play, including the most HoH wins for six in total.

She only placed ninth on season 12, winning two HoHs during her time on the show. But when she came back for season 13, she took home the win, thanks, in large part, to her four HoH wins and two veto wins. Rachel was vocal against those players who simply “floated” through the game and backed up her stance by pulling out some serious competition victories.

Daniele Donato (Season 8, 13)

With an impressive nine wins across two seasons, Daniele was a bona fide competition beast who, surprisingly, never won the game. She also had the record for the most veto wins in two seasons until that was broken by Villegas.

She was the runner-up to her father, Evel Dick, in season 8 when she won two HoH competitions and five vetos. When she returned for season 13, she only got two HoH wins and no vetos before being voted out in 8th place.

Janelle Pierzina (Season 6, All-Stars, 14)

Tying the record for the most total HoH wins across two seasons and setting the now broken record for the most veto wins across three seasons, Pierzina is the most impressive female competitive player on the show to date, having won a total of 13 competitions.

She placed third her first two times playing. In season 6, she won two HoH competitions and two vetoes, and in All-Stars, she won four HoHs and a mind-boggling five veto wins. While she did play a third time, she placed 12th and didn’t have the chance to add to her competition run. She did, however, get two coach wins in season 14 where the four returning players first acted as coaches to teams of players before officially entering the game themselves as well. Even more impressive given Janelle’s comp win stats: she was nominated 12 times throughout her time on the show!

Paul Abrahamian (Season 18, 19)

Best known for having placed second twice and both times losing in a close jury vote where many believed he should have won, Abrahamian tops the list as the Big Brother player with the most competition wins ever at 14 across two seasons.

In the first season he played, despite being nominated six times, he secured his safety with three each HoH and POV wins, along with his strategic game play and ironclad alliances. For season 19, he stayed in the game just as long, achieving three HoH wins and another five vetos, shattering the original records.
