Following the recent development at Warner Bros. Pictures that has seen DC all-star Geoff Johns put in place as the head of future DC Films (serving in the official role of Chief Content Officer), with stated intentions of bringing “hope and optimism” to the DC Extended Universe, anticipation for future movie in the larger superhero canon appears to be on the rise. After publishing the first volume in his DC Universe: Rebirth one-shot comic book arc, fans of DC Comics’ characters are likely eager to see what direction future DCEU productions will take under Johns’ leadership.
But before Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice followup, Justice League Part One opens in theaters in November of 2017, Johns’ comic book reinvention of that film’s superheroes will see fruition on the panels of his already successful DC Universe: Rebirth #1. And by the looks of things, comic book fans aren’t the only ones impressed with Johns’ latest DC one-shot series.
None other than Batman actor Ben Affleck himself has come out in full support of the newly appointed DC Films chairman’s most recent work on DC Universe: Rebirth #1. Seeing as how Affleck will be co-producing Justice League Part One and co-writing his forthcoming Batman film with Johns, his unapologetic praise of the man can only bode well for their recently established creative partnership.

Following Affleck’s recent stint as an Internet meme dubbed Sad Affleck, it would appear as though the newly appointed Bruce Wayne is feeling a little more optimistic about the DCEU after the critical backlash raised against Batman V Superman. With any luck, Johns and Affleck will prove conducive to the future success of DC Films, and Justice League Part One will pave the way for a revelatory Batman stand-alone feature yet to come.

As comic book readers the world over begin to pore over their own copies of DC Universe: Rebirth #1, film fans can begin anticipating future productions from DC Films more in keeping with the newly established tone of “hope and optimism” set by Johns and affirmed by Affleck. On that note, here’s to hoping for more great work from the recently appointed duo of DCEU filmmakers in the years to come.
