Black Panther has left the nation of Wakanda in a place of transition. For 10,000 years, the secretive and highly advanced African country has kept to itself, intentionally isolated from the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, though, King T’Challa has brought about a massive change; he’s insisted that Wakanda has a duty to reach out to the rest of the world. That decision looks set to land Wakanda straight in Thanos’s line of fire; the entire third act of Avengers: Infinity War will be set in Wakanda....

Mission: Impossible - Fallout director Christopher McQuarrie is rumored to be a possible replacement for Bond 25. Daniel Craig’s final outing as 007 is set to open in theaters next November, and was set to be helmed by Oscar-winner Danny Boyle. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case, as Boyle recently departed the project due to creative differences. Since Bond 25 was already in the midst of casting principal roles and supposed to start filming in December, it gives the producers little time to find someone else and keep the production on schedule....

Day one of E3 2016 is coming to a close, and although the E3 trade floor doesn’t actually open until Tuesday, the first two days are as usual host to the big publisher press conferences. Electronic Arts went first and this evening, Bethesda took over to share some surprises of their own. While rumors pointing towards potential announcements for another new Wolfenstein game, a sequel to The Evil Within, and even another new entry in The Elder Scrolls series proved false, instead gamers got a teaser for Quake Champions - continuing Bethesda’s trend of bringing back classic shooter IPs - and after years of waiting, a new Prey game....

Lucasfilm and parent company Disney need to get their act together and bring back the amazing video game X-Wing Alliance, either as a remaster, a sequel, or a reboot. And no, we don’t mean that Electronic Arts, simplified arcade stuff in the Battlefront games. We want what LucasArts did so well with in the ’90s, the type of games everyone can agree deserve awards recognition at the end of the year....

Marvel Studios’ highly-anticipated Phase Three of its Marvel Cinematic Universe will begin this year with Captain America: Civil War, and with the release date fast approaching, the cast and crew are busy promoting the film. Carol Danvers, a.k.a. Captain Marvel, was originally supposed to appear in Jessica Jones season 3 - and potentially even as a villain. It’s easy to forget that Marvel’s Jessica Jones wasn’t originally intended to be part of the Marvel Netflix slate. Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg was first brought on board for the project back in 2010, when Marvel planned it to air on ABC in fall 2011. There have only been a few comments about Rosenberg’s first drafts, but the little that’s been said suggests the show didn’t change much....

Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman will host Saturday Night Live in April. After inspiring tears of joy in movies theatres, Boseman will soon have a chance to make a live studio audience cry with scripted comedy. It’s been another hot week for Boseman. Last weekend, Black Panther officially crossed the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office as the film continues to break records. Further, Marvel Studios just released the trailer for Avengers: Infinity War, in which the actor will reprise his Black Panther role for directors Anthony and Joe Russo....

Den of Thieves was quite the directorial debut for Christian Gudegast. A cops-and-robbers semi-true-life thriller, the film was one of 2017’s earliest hits, coming out of the gates in January to earn over 2.5 times its budget. Unsurprisingly, a sequel was almost immediately green-lit. Of course, this wasn’t Gudegast’s start. A well-worn screenwriter and script doctor, he’s been active in Hollywood for the past two decades - especially in relation to his Den of Thieves star Gerard Butler....

The 21st Annual Critics’ Choice Awards took place in Santa Monica last night, giving us some indication of what movies may win big at this year’s Academy Awards in February. Mad Max: Fury Road led the way in the Critics’ Choice movie nominations, with 13 nods. It managed to pick up nine of those awards, including Best Director for George Miller. Following on from his Golden Globe win, Leonardo DiCaprio won Best Actor for his role in The Revenant; another clue pointing toward him winning the Oscar....

Marvel Studios’ Phase Three is ready to begin with Captain America: Civil War, in which two of the franchise’s biggest heroes will face off against each other: Captain America and Iron Man. Civil War will bring together most of the current line-up of the MCU (minus Thor, Hulk, and the Guardians) and will also introduce newcomers Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and Spider-Man (Tom Holland). The trailers and TV spots have already shown the characters from both teams, the return of The Incredible Hulk’s Thunderbolt Ross, and Brock Rumlow’s transformation into villain Crossbones....

Daniel Craig hosted Saturday Night Live this week and found time to poke fun at his over-the-top Southern accent from last year’s hit Knives Out. Rian Johnson’s refreshingly original whodunit became a cultural phenomenon following its Thanksgiving release last year, going on to gross over $300 million worldwide and earning an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay. In Knives Out, Craig plays Detective Benoit Blanc, a quirky Southern gentleman with what Chris Evans’ Ransom describes as a “Foghorn Leghorn drawl....

Daredevilseason 2 is almost here! It’s been a long year, but the wait is almost over. All signs point to season 2 being even better than the first, so anticipation is high, but many people may still need to kill some time in until they can get the Devil back on their screen in live action. Fortunately, there’s a lot of movies and TV shows that just might scratch your Daredevil itch....

Between network, cable, and streaming services, there are plenty of comic book-based television dramas ranging from The CW’s Arrowverse to FOX’s campy Gotham and Netflix’s burgeoning Defenders universe, among many others. However, both Marvel and DC Comics are gearing up for the half-hour comedy treatment on network television, with ABC developing two comedies – including Damage Control, which has already been ordered to pilot – and NBC’s Powerless. NBC ordered Powerless to pilot earlier this year as a half-hour comedy inspired by the world of DC Comics, with the twist being that it would focus on a group of powerless office workers at an insurance agency....

Deadpool is one of the biggest hits of 2016 so far, and has the potential to be one of the biggest Marvel-based hits based on domestic gross alone. A sequel is already moving forward, featuring the time-traveling mutant Cable and possibly setting up future films such as an R-rated X-Force. James Corden of The Late Late Show on CBS has a few ideas about what Deadpool really needs, however. He recently talked it over with Ryan Reynolds, trying with mixed results to convince him that he could sum up what Deadpool was missing with one word: Sidekick....

Powered by Kidman’s fierce performance and Kusama’s deliberate filmmaking, Destroyer makes for an effectively pulpy work of high-art storytelling. Having already appeared in one major awards season contender this year (Joel Edgerton’s Boy Erased), Nicole Kidman returns with a dramatic starring vehicle of her own in the form of Karyn Kusama’s grim crime drama, Destroyer. Kusama is perhaps best known for her work in the horror genre, with films like the cult horror-comedy Jennifer’s Body, the “Her Only Living Son” segment of the all-female horror anthology XX, and the Hollywood Hills suspense-thriller The Invitation under her belt....

Major spoilers for Thor: Ragnarok. - Did Loki steal the Tesseract from Odin’s vault at the end of Thor: Ragnarok in one of the films biggest moments of setup for Avengers: Infinity War? Or was it all a misleading trick to get audiences unfairly mistrusting the seemingly redeemed God of Mischief? In terms of character, Loki was far and away the most consistent with his previous big-screen appearances in Ragnarok; Thor has much more misplaced bravado and Hulk is for the first time a thinking beast, but Tom Hiddleston is broadly the same trickster we always knew....

Each new release in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has produced a unique addition to the growing mega-franchise, and the upcoming Doctor Strange is no different. The original comic was famous for expanding the pop-art vocabulary of comics by incorporating abstract and surrealist styles into traditional superhero imagery, and the new film looks to be bringing a stylized sensibility of its own to bear along with a supernatural sensibility not yet seen in previous Marvel films....
