Luca Guadagnino is set to direct Jennifer Lawrence in Burial Rites. The news comes only weeks after the theatrical release of his latest film, Call Me By Your Name, an affecting portrait of first love set in 1983 Italy and starring Timothée Chalamet (Lady Bird) and Armie Hammer (The Social Network). Call Me By Your Name has drawn in near-unanimous acclaim, and has already begun to drum up Oscar buzz. On Monday, it picked up three Golden Globe nominations....

Brie Larson explains why she wasn’t quick to jump on the opportunity to board the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Captain Marvel, saying she was afraid it was going to “feel like a burden.” Set to debut as Carol Danvers in next year’s Captain Marvel, the Oscar-winner has been busy filming the Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck-directed movie. Bethesda’s latest in the Fallout franchise has been struggling right out of the gate. Fans were concerned when it was revealed that Fallout 76 would be strictly online, a series first. Jude Law has been cast to play a role in the upcoming Captain Marvel film, but he won’t confirm or deny whether that role is Mar-Vell. Captain Marvel was announced way back in 2013, and we learned that Brie Larson would play the eponymous Captain Marvel at the 2016 San Diego Comic-Con. Filming began in January 2018, and the movie is scheduled to be released in March 2019. The film will be directed by Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden, in what will be their first collaboration with Marvel Studios....

Netflix unveiled some brand-new footage from The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance during the show’s Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2019. The upcoming series is a prequel that takes place long before the events of directors Jim Henson and Frank Oz’s 1982 cult classic fantasy film, The Dark Crystal, and follows a group of noble Gelflings who lead a rebellion against the horrifying creatures known as Skeksis. Directed by Louis Leterrier (Clash of the Titans, Now You See Me), Age of Resistance boasts an all-star cast that includes Anya Taylor-Joy (Split), Taron Egerton (Rocketman), and Nathalie Emmanuel (The Fate of the Furious) as the voices for the Gelfling heroes Brea, Rian, and Deet....

Darkroom for iOS has just been updated to version 5.5, which brings a new grain slider to reduce memory usage, improve speed and aesthetic, and make it look closer to film grain. According to Darkroom, the image “will now appear to be made up of grain rather than the grain being applied over the top as an overlay.
