Disney is reportedly not rushing to replace James Gunn after firing him from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. One of the biggest shakeups to hit the Marvel Cinematic Universe came less than two weeks ago when Gunn became the center of controversy. Some old tweets resurfaced and the reaction to Gunn’s past attempts at humor resulted in Disney swiftly moving to remove him from Marvel Studios, firing him as the writer/director of Guardians 3....
Alongside the release of macOS Ventura this week, Belkin officially launched its MagSafe mount designed to be used with Apple’s new Continuity Camera feature. While the first version of this mount is designed for Mac laptops only, the company also has a version intended for Apple displays and desktops coming soon… Continuity Camera is a new feature in iOS 16 and macOS Ventura that lets you use your iPhone as a webcam for your Mac....
The last five years have been bittersweet for Star Wars fans. Following completion of the prequel trilogy, most moviegoers believed that Expanded Universe stories, told across a wide variety of entertainment mediums, would be the only way to experience new Star Wars tales going forward - that is until the surprise announcement that Lucasfilm had been purchased by Disney. Along with the sale, it was revealed that plans were already taking shape for a new trilogy of episodes, set after the events depicted in Return of the Jedi, as well as spinoff stories (now dubbed “Anthology” films)....

John Ortiz has nabbed a role in Bumblebee, the first Transformers spinoff movie. The film is set in the 1980s, which means period haircuts and dated costumes aplenty. The Bumblebee movie will also have a significantly smaller budget than the mainline Transformers flicks. It began filming in July, with Travis Knight directing, and it’s slated for a December 2018 release. Ortiz – who you may recognize from Kong: Skull Island, Silver Linings Playbook or Fast & Furious – joins The Edge of Seventeen’s Hailee Steinfeld and WWE star John Cena in the cast....

Disney and Marvel Studios have confirmed the cast for Captain Marvel, and the supporting cast includes Clark Gregg’s return to this big screen as Phil Coulson. While Marvel Studios typically likes to operate under a formula where the movies hit theaters in chronological order, they’re changing that up in Phase 3. The biggest example of this is Brie Larson’s origin movie for Carol Danvers, which will take the Marvel Cinematic Universe back to the ’90s....

To help promote the digital and home media release of Deadpool 2, 20th Century Fox unveiled a new Chuck E. Cheese-style trailer for the extended Deadpool 2 Super Duper Cut. Deadpool 2 has been one of the year’s biggest box office successes, bringing in more than $730 million worldwide, and a select group of fans at San Diego Comic-Con 2018 were treated to a screening of the cut yesterday. While Deadpool 2 saw the reprisal of Ryan Reynolds’ foul-mouthed Wade Wilson, it also introduced audiences to a slew of new characters and hinted at the promised X-Force movie....

Stranger Things star David Harbour is set to join Chris Hemsworth in Dhaka. Harbour broke out in his role as Hopper in Netflix’s original sci-fi/horror series, and the streaming service isn’t ready to let him go. He’s now joining the war movie written by Avengers: Infinity War co-director Joe Russo. Harbour has become one of the internet’s most popular actors due to his own online antics. He’s danced with penguins, and may next officiate a wedding in his full Hellboy costume....
Pixar hit the scene in 1995 with Toy Story and has since made a name for itself all on its own even though its movies were released under the Walt Disney Studios banner. In recent years, Pixar has taken to mixing original animated features in with its sequel slate, with its last four releases being an even mixture consisting of Finding Dory, The Good Dinosaur, Inside Out, and Monsters University. Now, after 2016 saw the release of the massively successful Finding Nemo sequel, Disney and Pixar are gearing up for another sequel in Cars 3 as well as the original movie Coco....
The new teaser for FOX’s BH90210 shows more of what the meta-revival has planned, while also showing the original cast together on TV for the first time in nearly 20 years. While revivals and reboots are all the rage in television these days, credit to FOX and to the returning cast members of Beverly Hill 90210 for trying to do something a little different than the usual. In this case, that would be creating a show within a show, wherein the new series is about the original cast gathering together to try and get a more traditional revival of the 90210 off the ground, only to find themselves in a soapy drama that at least looks a bit more like real life....
BioWare recently indicated that they haven’t given up on the Mass Effect series. The Canadian video game developer has no shortage of well-known properties in their stable, but the Mass Effect series, which first launched almost 11 years ago, holds a special place for them. The first two games cultivated a massive fan base with a refined mix of action and RPG elements and then alienated a fair number of them first with the controversial ending to the Shepherd trilogy and then a lackluster debut on the next generation of consoles with Mass Effect: Andromeda....
Marvel Studios recently launched Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the premiere of Captain America: Civil War, which found success both at the box office as well as with critics and casual movie fans alike. In addition to acting as the launchpad for Phase 3, Captain America: Civil War also worked to introduce two new heroes to the MCU, Peter Parker a.k.a. Spider-Man (Tom Holland) and T’Challa a.k.a. Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) - both of whom will go on to star in their own films within the MCU in the coming years....

Black Panther has set a new Monday box office record. The film grossed an estimated $40.16 million in the United States, surpassing the previous Monday box office record set by Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The film was directed by Ryan Coogler and returns Chadwick Boseman to the role of T’Challa/Black Panther, following his debut in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. Black Panther is currently at 97% on Rotten Tomatoes with critics and 100% with the Tomatometer’s top critics, making it critically one of the highest-rated superhero films of all-time, and the highest-rated Marvel movie of all time....
Michael B. Jordan has talked about his character’s role in Black Panther’s story during an interview where he and the rest of the cast tip-toed around Killmonger’s golden superhero costume. Black Panther was the second-to-last part of the Marvel Studios’ epic SDCC 2017 Hall H panel, bringing with it several reveals and a clip/sizzle reel that earned a standing ovation. What’s got most people talking from the exclusive footage (you can read our description of it here) is villain Killmonger’s own version of the Black Panther suit....
