Now that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has been out for over a month, players are finally starting to get an idea of how the the 74-character roster of the game can be tiered. There are a few surprising names on the top 15 characters featured, but overall there are a handful of fighters that were almost givens based on how prominent they are amongst members of the Smash community. Surprisingly, Wolf is said to be doing the best at regional and national tournaments, with Palutena and Inkling trailing just a little behind....

The world of Blade Runner is about to be explored like never before. Building off of the recent release of Blade Runner 2049, Alcon Media Group and Titan Publishing Group have joined forces to produce a number of comics and other illustrated novels and books set in the dystopian world inspired by the writings of Philip K. Dick. Both companies are renowned for their work in their respective fields. Alcon Media Group has produced over 30 films since 1997, including Blade Runner 2049 and The Book of Eli....

San Diego Comic-Con’s Hall H will soon see its fair share of horror, as both Glass and Halloween 2018 will have panels at the venue next month. Glass and Halloween are among the most highly-anticipated sequels in Hollywood right now, and it will no doubt be interesting to see what type of reveals will be made at their respective panels. Glass is a sequel to M. Night Syamalan’s Unbreakable, while Halloween is the next film in the Halloween franchise (and a direct sequel to John Carpenter’s original 1978 film)....

Our favorite Marvel heroes, when they’re not clobbering each other in Captain America: Civil War, continue to smash the box office. The third Captain America film raked in $181.7 million domestically in its first three days (the third-highest Marvel Cinematic Universe movie opening weekend to date behind the first two Avengers films) and has helped Walt Disney Studios - which owns Marvel Studios - hit $1 billion in domestic ticket sales in record time; namely, 128 days into 2016....

20th Century Fox may have been sold to Disney, but Comcast is actually the company who gave the higher bid. When reports surfaced late last year that Fox was up for grabs, plenty of contenders surfaced. None, however, were considered to be as serious as Disney and Comcast. The Mouse House continued to be the front-runner throughout the bidding process, which became clear when Comcast inevitably dropped out of the race, leading to Disney and Fox officially agreeing to a deal in December....

The first person to call Britta the worst was Señor Chang in season one when she mispronounced the word “bagel”. From there, the catchphrase took off and Britta became known as the worst, aka the AT&T of people, the human tennis elbow, the pizza burn on the roof of the world’s mouth, and the opposite of Batman. “To britta” something even became a synonym for messing up. Last month, it was announced that Apple senior vice president Craig Federighi would attend and speak at Web Summit 2021, which takes place in Lisbon, Portugal. In a keynote delivered today, Federighi vehemently spoke out against legislation that could force Apple to open the iPhone up to sideloading… The Digital Markets Act legislation was first unveiled last December in the EU, and it could lead to major changes for the App Store and pre-installed first-party applications on the iPhone....

Cult of Chucky director and Child’s Play writer Don Mancini has discussed the future of the Chucky series, and it may well end up taking the doll to the past. Chucky as a character has been terrorizing viewiers since 1988’s Child’s Play, and the possessed Chucky doll has jumped from horrifying adventure to adventure ever since, before something of a dry spell following 2004’s Seed of Chucky. However, 2013 saw the launch of Curse of Chucky, which was seen as a solid return for the franchise as a straight-to-home video release....

Netflix’s Dead to Me is renewed for season 2. Created by Liz Feldman (2 Broke Girls, One Big Happy), the critically acclaimed series premiered on Netflix last month. Its talented team of executive producers includes Jessica Elbaum (Booksmart, Hustlers), Will Ferrell (The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, Drunk History), Adam McKay (Succession, Daddy’s Home 2) and Christie Smith (Nathan for You, Tosh.0). Dubbed a ‘traumedy’, the show explores the themes of loss, grief and forgiveness in a darkly, weirdly funny way....

According to a new rumor, not only will there be a Deadpool 3, but David Leitch will be returning to direct. The first Deadpool was such a success that fans were demanding a third part before Deadpool 2 hit theaters. Ryan Reynolds put a damper on the excitement when he stated his belief that Deadpool 3 might not happen. The Disney/Fox merger raised further concerns about the future of the franchise....

The upcoming Dune remake from director Denis Villeneuve is being described as Star Wars for adults. An adaptation of Frank Herbert’s iconic 1965 novel of the same name came from acclaimed writer-director David Lynch in 1984, starring Kyle MacLachlan, Francesa Annis, and more. In spite of strong anticipation for the film, it significantly underperformed at the global box office in addition to earning widespread negative reviews. But, as with many of Lynch’s projects, Dune has become a cult classic over the years....

The Disney-Fox deal comes closer to reality with today’s announcement that China’s regulators have given the deal their seal of approval. This marks a big win for Disney, considering the massive successes of Disney-owned cinematic franchises like Marvel in China, not to mention Shanghai’s Disney Resort, which launched in 2016. Pending further regulatory approval, the deal is expected to close in January 2019. The acquisition, which was first proposed in December 2017, has sparked controversy due to concerns about further monopolizing the entertainment industry by consolidating another two of its biggest players....

The cast of Disney’s live action take on Mulan is shaping up, as The Mindy Project’s Utkarsh Ambudkar and Marco Polo’s Ron Yuan have joined the cast of the Niki Caro-directed film, which is expected to hit theaters in early 2020. Ambudkar and Yuan will join Chinese actress Liu Yifei - who is set to play Mulan - in the live-action adaptation of the 1998 animated Disney film, itself based on the Chinese legend of Hua Mulan....

When Disney released Mary Poppins in 1964, it was a smash hit. The musical film, starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke, went on to win 5 Academy Awards, including Best Actress for Andrews, but Walt Disney didn’t have an easy time getting the film to the screen. As is well-dramatized in Saving Mr. Banks, original Mary Poppins creator, P.L. Travers, was fiercely protective of the magical nanny of her creation, and for a long time withheld the rights to any of her Mary Poppins books from Disney....

Blade Runner 2049 officially lost its top spot at the box office to surprise horror hit Happy Death Day. Denis Villeneuve’s long-awaited follow-up to Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner did not disappoint with critics and has inspired numerous debates about its themes and hidden meanings, but its success on a cinematic level has not translated to big box office numbers. Christopher Landon’s Happy Death Day, meanwhile, arrived just in time for horror-hungry moviegoers at Halloween season amid solid reviews in its own right....

David Ayer already knows what a sequel to Bright would be about - if he got to make it. The film marks, in many ways, one of the more interesting genre combinations to come along in recent years. Its setting and tone resemble the same LA cop movies that Ayer made a name for himself with, including End of Watch and Training Day, but with fantasy elements and characters pulled straight out of popular properties like Lord of the Rings....

Gunfight is the newest mode coming to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and it has received five minutes of gameplay in 4K. The mode pits two teams of two against each other on a very small arena-style map. Teams will have to defeat one another within a 40-second timer; if they go into overtime, they’ll have to capture a certain objective on the map or eliminate the opposing force before they take it....

A sequel for the upcoming Call of Duty movie is already in the works, with Black Panther’s Joe Robert Cole writing the script. Activision Blizzard Studios is looking to move into the film industry, and sees their wildly successful Call of Duty video game franchise as the basis to do so. The studio has long been developing the first live-action Call of Duty film, but it was only recently that progress actually started to be made....
