A clever college student pranked one of his professors by delivering a presentation on the fictional nation of Wakanda from Marvel Comics’ Black Panther. The 11 minute lecture discussed the recent turmoil in the nation following the death of King T’Chaka and the civil war between T’Chaka’s son, T’Challa, and T’Chaka’s nephew, Eric Stevens. Astonishingly, this college professor was one of the few people on Earth unfamiliar with the story of T’Challa and his battle to retain his father’s throne....

Season 1 of Netflix’s Daredevil series pitted the titular superhero against his arch-nemesis, Wilson Fisk (a.k.a. Kingpin). The pairing was an obvious choice given their long history in the Marvel comics upon which the show was based, but for season 2 the show is expanding beyond Fisk to introduce a new challenge for Matt Murdock. The show’s depiction of Fisk was a little more nuanced than in the comic books, portraying him as a flawed individual who justified his violent misdeeds as the means to an end goal of cleaning up Hell’s Kitchen....

It seems that legendary writer Scott Snyder is drawing heavily off of the classic Super Friends cartoon in developing his new Justice League. This may not seem to be much of a revelation, given previous reports that Snyder would be bringing The Legion of Doom (the group of villains led by Lex Luthor who were the main antagonists of the Super Friends in later seasons) into the mainstream DC Comics universe....

Death Stranding is the first game from director Hideo Kojima since Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, which marked his final involvement with the series. Kojima had a well-published falling out with longtime publisher Konami during The Phantom Pain’s development, leading to him departing the company when the game was completed....

2016 has given Illumination Entertainment another hit animated franchise in The Secret Life of Pets, to go along with the studio’s crown jewel: the Despicable Me and Minions films. The Minions took center stage in 2015 with their own spinoff; itself, a huge commercial success and Illumination’s highest-grossing animated feature to date (with a $1.16 billion worldwide gross). In 2017, it will be Gru’s turn to step back into the spotlight with his own threequel, in the form of Despicable Me 3....

Marvel artist Andy Park shared keyframe artwork from the Black Widow solo film featuring Black Widow battling Taskmaster. Black Widow first appeared in Iron Man 2 back in 2010 when she went undercover as a notary public for Tony Stark, and later became a main character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and one of the six original Avengers. Despite Black Widow sacrificing herself to get the Soul Stone from Vormir, the character is still getting her own solo movie, set to release 10 years after her first appearance in the MCU....
