Ryan Reynolds says Deadpool 3 is in the works and will go in a “completely different direction” than the films before it. As of 2019, Reynolds has technically been playing the Deadpool character for a decade, going back to X-Men Origins: Wolverine. However, it wasn’t until the Merc with a Mouth’s solo movie in 2016 that Reynolds really got to put his personal stamp on the foul-mouthed, fast-healing, superhero with a heart of gold....

Tim Miller’s Deadpool film was stuck in development for many years until leaked test footage - released on the heels of Comic-Con International in San Diego in 2014 - garnered enough positive response that 20th Century Fox finally gave the superhero feature a green light. Shortly afterward, Ryan Reynold signed on to return as Wade Wilson a.k.a. Deadpool for the film that had a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland)....

Fox’s irreverent, R-rated X-Men spinoff, Deadpool, broke more than just conventions when it released in theaters on Valentine’s Day weekend. Without the benefit of 3D ticket premiums, this mini-budgeted superhero comedy managed not to just out-gross the worldwide box office total of every other R-rated film of all time, but also every other X-Men film. A sequel co-starring Cable has already been announced, but has yet to receive a solid release date....

Destiny 2 can’t seem to keep a secret this week, but that hasn’t hurt the game as much as one would think—most of the news leaking about the title has been positive....

Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed that the studio’s long-awaited streaming service will feature all Star Wars movies produced after 2019, but none of the movies that came before. This news doesn’t come as much of a surprise, since Disney sold the streaming rights to the first six movies to Turner Broadcasting in 2016, for $275 million, which remains in effect until 2024. Disney has been trying to re-obtain those Star Wars rights from Turner, but talks have reportedly stalled after Turner rejected Disney’s initial inquiry....

Following the success of Captain America: Civil War, Marvel Studios ended 2016 by releasing Doctor Strange, one of the projects that Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige has long desired to make. His faith in the project proved to be well placed as the Benedict Cumberbatch-led superhero film made over $650 million worldwide, while also receiving generally positive critical feedback. The unique visuals and introduction to true magic in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, resulted in audiences quickly becoming fans of the Stranger character....

Black Panther concept art reveals Shuri with her own version of the Wakandan armor. The Shuri of the Black Panther movie is very different to the character in the comics; the print of Shuri is a fierce, ferocious warrior in her own right (she even became Black Panther for a while). More recently, she’s actually bonded with the spirit and history of Wakanda, embodying the nation’s histories and traditions. In contrast, the MCU version of Shuri is a 16-year-old genius so smart she makes Tony Stark look slow....

After all her years of princess-ing, it might finally be time for Zelda to take on the role of hero in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s yet-unnamed sequel. The Breath of the Wild 2 reveal trailer may have been short, but it revealed just enough to get plenty of fans excited about the possibility of playable Zelda. The Marvel Cinematic Universe hit a major milestone recently as it passed $10 billion in earnings worldwide. That is a huge amount of money, and in combination with high earners like Star War: The Force Awakens and The Jungle Book, adds up to a very lucrative time for Marvel’s parent company Disney. While Civil War mostly focuses on the conflict between Steve Rogers, Tony Stark and Bucky Barnes, it had plenty of other narrative plates to spin. The latest chapter of the Flash War event sees both versions of The Flash - Barry Allen and Wally West - in a race that has them picking up speed as they circle the globe. Unfortunately, their actions cause a number of instabilities that threaten the Earth, forcing their allies in the Justice League and the Titans to take action against them. Flash War spun out of the events of DC Universe Rebirth #1, which reintroduced the original Wally West (the first Kid Flash, who took up Barry Allen’s mantle after his apparent death in Crisis On Infinite Earths) into the DC Comics Universe....

The Titans season 1 finale plunged viewers into a twisted dream-world in which Dick Grayson found himself forced to kill his mentor, Batman. It was a strange way to end a season, an episode that didn’t really tie up any of the plot threads but instead set the scene for Titans season 2. It was also, in typical Titans fashion, something of a bloodbath. There was one extended action sequence in which Batman tore through the Gotham City Police Department, killing them with all the brutal efficiency you’d expect if the Dark Knight did indeed go bad....
