Carla Gugino speaks with Screen Rant about her new Cinemax series Jett, how the crime drama came to be, and how the show created a different kind of female antihero. In addition to starring in the series from writer and director Sebastian Gutierrez, Gugino is also an executive producer, which allowed for her to have greater input on the character of Daisy “Jett” Kowalski and her story. The result is an incredibly entertaining series that has hints of Elmore Leonard, but also feels unique, especially in terms of the typically macho programming found on Cinemax....

Late screen legend Paul Newman’s name appears as Doc Hudson on a cast listing for Disney/Pixar’s upcoming sequel Cars 3. Released in 2006, Cars featured several familiar voices, from Owen Wilson as the film’s hero Lightning McQueen and Larry the Cable Guy as Tow Mater, to George Carlin as Filmore, and Cheech Marin as Ramone. Perhaps no voice was more distinct, though, than that of Newman, who played the pivotal role of Doc Hudson, a former race champ who served as Lightning McQueen’s mentor....

After weeks of back and forth on social media, Chris Jericho has challenged Kenny Omega to a match at January’s NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 12. This will mark Jericho’s first match held outside of the confines of WWE since he debuted with the company in 1999. When Jericho makes his periodic returns to WWE, it’s been reported that he signs short-term deals that just cover the length of his stay, which is presumably how he’s able to wrestle for NJPW....

In recent years, there have been two “takes” I’ve made on a quick judgment. They were that the AirPods wouldn’t be a product hit and that MagSafe was a solution in search of a problem. [Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Old Man Logan #17.] Jeff Lemire’s run on Old Man Logan has been, admittedly, a touch on the choppy side, as he’s leapt from genres to genre: from western to samurai/spiritual cult misadventures to monster movie romp. Nevertheless, Lemire handles the change-ups well, in particular the rapidly shifting temporal fluxes which come fast and furious in the latest story arc, “Return to the Wastelands.” Fortunately, he’s also got Andrea Sorrentino’s stunning artwork to smooth Logan’s jump cuts between outer space and his theoretical dystopian future....

The answer to the question in the headline is, of course, “No, not really.” A cursory glance at your review aggregate of choice will make it plain enough that the majority of costumed-crimefighter epics of late received decent marks on average. The only times recently when the movie press has seemingly “ganged-up” on the genre have been instances like Batman V Superman or X-Men: Apocalypse, where an overall negative appraisal was very much in line with the broader cultural zeitgeist....

The upcoming Ben-Hur is the latest adaptation of Lew Wallace’s 1880 novel “Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ”, this time from director Timur Bekmambetov, as well as the screenwriter Keith Clarke (The Way Back) and the Oscar-winning screenwriter John Ridley (of 12 Years a Slave and American Crime fame). Wallace’s source material has been adapted multiple times over the past century, including as a silent film (twice, in fact) and most famously as a 1950s Hollywood swords and sandals epic, starring Charlton Heston as the film’s namesake....

The Black Panther audio commentary has finally revealed the inspiration behind the famous Wakanda Forever salute. For a long time, Marvel Cinematic Universe fans would whisper “Hail, Hydra” into each other’s ears following the release of Anthony and Joe Russo’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but that trend tapered off as time went on. Now, it seems the next trend might just be the Wakanda Forever salute, something that even got lots of cheers during the final battle in the Russos’ Avengers: Infinity War....

For the most part, Marvel’s Black Panther not only exhibits proper African representation but is also comic accurate, with one notable exception - T’Challa’s age. In the film, T’Challa is much older than his comic book counterpart. While that may seem like an extraneous detail, it actually matters in the grand scheme of things, especially within the continuously expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe. Moreover, T’Challa’s age makes sense considering the age of his future Avengers teammates, particularly Iron Man and Captain America....

Captain America: Civil War, has yet to be officially released in the U.S.. Nonetheless, the positive reviews for the latest Marvel offering have been rolling in, and reports suggest that Civil War has already crossed the $200 million mark at the international box office already. Add to that the potential takings from the domestic box office, and those from the other countries in which it has yet to open, and it seems safe to assume that #TeamCap is doing rather well....

It was such a simple concept, yet it resonated so strongly with the audience due to its mix of dry and slapstick humor, as well as its enthralling group of characters. It was never just about the hero, bar owner and bartender Sam Malone (Ted Danson), who used to pitch for the Boston Red Sox....

Live audio platform Clubhouse announced this week that it is finally rolling out dark mode support to its users on iOS and Android, so they can use the Clubhouse mobile app with a dark interface. However, it will still take some time before the option becomes available to all users. In an official blog post, Clubhouse says that dark mode was a long-awaited feature for its users. The company even confirmed that it was aware of tweaks and mockups created to show how much users were waiting for an option to switch to a dark interface....

Fans of the near constantly ill-fated NBC original comedy Community are no doubt just as enthusiastic in regards to any and all future projects from the show’s creator Dan Harmon as they are in the series itself. In addition to his work on NBC, which saw the formerly mentioned program put on the air for a grand total of five seasons, plus one season that premiered exclusively online via Yahoo! Screen, Harmon has since gone on to develop the cult-hit animated program Rick and Morty for Adult Swim on Cartoon Network....

Daredevil actor Vincent D’Onofrio wants to play Lex Luthor in a future DC project. D’Onofrio is most known for playing the crime boss named Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin, in the massively popular Netflix superhero show. Kingpin was the main antagonist for the first and third seasons of the series, and had brief appearances in season 2. Even though D’Onofrio may currently be recognized as Fisk, he actually has been acting since the ’80s, beginning his career with the comedy film The First Turn-On!...

At this moment, the Marvel Cinematic Universe includes two phases, 12 films - spanning from 2008’s Iron Man to 2015’s Ant-Man - and four television series, which can further be broken down to the two TV shows on ABC, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter, and the two on Netflix: Daredevil and Jessica Jones. In terms of its film slate, Marvel Studios has movies planned through 2019 (and dates scheduled through 2020), with Captain America: Civil War officially kicking off Phase 3....

A brand-new poster for Deadpool 2 unites the film’s main anti-heroes - but only Wade looks happy with the situation. For fans of Fox’s X-Men universe, Deadpool 2 is now the only movie arriving this year. X-Men: Dark Phoenix was pushed back to 2019, causing The New Mutants to move once again. Luckily, Deadpool 2 is arriving sooner than originally planned and it won’t be long now until the Merc with a Mouth is back on the big screen....

Disney is definitely planning to roll Disney Plus out internationally. The House of Mouse has been quietly conducting major structural changes ahead of the streaming service’s launch and the Fox acquisition, and senior executive VP and chief strategy officer Kevin Mayer has been named head of a new unit called “Disney direct-to-consumer and international.” This division is responsible for oversight of all Disney distribution, including Disney Plus, ESPN, and Disney’s shareholding in Hulu....

The Big Bang Theory’s finale had a fun callback to its first episode 12 years ago, via Penny’s (Kaley Cuoco) wardrobe. CBS’ long-running sitcom finally bowed out with an one-long special send-off that resolved a couple of the lingering plots of the series, including Amy (Mayim Bialik) and Sheldon’s (Jim Parsons) bid for the Nobel Prize in Physics for their work on Super Asymmetry. The elevator was also finally fixed after more than a decade of the gang going up and down four flights of stairs....
