The daughter of legendary actors and Oscar nominees Bruce Dern and Diane Ladd, Laura Dern has a couple Oscar nominations herself, most recently for playing Reese Witherspoon’s mother in the adventure drama Wild. Word has officially arrived that Activison and Bungie are splitting up, with the publishing rights to Destiny falling back into the hands of developer Bungie. This isn’t the first time that the studio has been through a breakup of this magnitude, as Bungie previously left Microsoft in order to pursue the creation of Destiny. While Bungie left behind the Halo franchise in that divorce, there’s one major difference in this split from Activision – the studio retained its IP....

It looks like Noah Hawley’s newly announced Doctor Doom movie at Fox may feature a reunion between the writer and director with one of his Legion stars: Dan Stevens. The news of Hawley developing a Doctor Doom film with Fox - the same studio he’s worked well with so far on Legion - was one of the biggest and most unexpected announcements to come out of this year’s San Diego Comic-Con up until this point....

Ben Affleck may re-team with The Accountant director Gavin O’Connor for the drama The Has-Been, currently being set up at Warner Bros. It should come as no surprise that Affleck and O’Connor would seek to work together again after The Accountant put up surprisingly solid box office numbers, grossing $86 million domestically. The two in fact are reportedly trying to put together a sequel to the 2016 film, which starred Affleck as a math savant involved in dangerous criminal activity....

It’s no surprise to learn that she was originally pursuing a role in the superhero film; what might be surprising is why she decided she wasn’t right for the part. Chris Hemsworth, star of Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame, reveals he fought to keep fat Thor from reverting to his original body type in the middle of the film. With the release of Avengers: Endgame, Marvel effectively brought the first 10 years of its Marvel Cinematic Universe to a narrative close. The film sees the original six Avengers unite in order to undo Thanos’ snap at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, which eliminated half of all life in the universe....

While 2016 holds many already announced wonders for lovers of geek-friendly TV, few new or returning shows carry with them higher expectations than the upcoming second season of Marvel’s Daredevil. Many were skeptical as to whether or not Marvel could transition its winning cinematic formula over to the world of streaming TV, putting the pressure squarely on the shoulders of Matt Murdock to prove the doubters wrong. Thankfully, Daredevil’s debut season proved to be a huge hit with both critics and audiences, further cementing Netflix as an original programming powerhouse to be reckoned with....

SYFY’s comic book adaptation of Deadly Class will bring the ‘80s to life in a gritty way that will also double as a love letter to Generation X. Period dramas on television are nothing new, and shows set during the ‘80s are everywhere these days — Stranger Things, Halt and Catch Fire, and The Americans being among some of the best — but this new series will aim to be a little more personal in its approach to the decade - at least as it pertains to how series creator and co-showrunner Rick Remender plans to depict that particular period of time....

Deadpool 2 appears to be already setting records for an R-rated movie thanks to a massive turnout at the film’s Thursday night preview screenings. The bar was set high for Deadpool 2, star and co-writer Ryan Reynolds’ hotly-anticipated sequel to the 2016 blockbuster, which during its theatrical run became only the third R-rated film in movie history to crack the $300 million mark at the domestic box office. Released in February of 2016, Deadpool played in theaters until June of that year, amassing $363 million domestically and $420 million overseas for a dazzling global cume of $783 million....
