After years of fans begging Marvel Studios to give Natasha Romanoff her own movie, they’ve finally relented and gotten one into production. The only downside is that it’s right after the character was killed off following a nine-year tenure as one of the MCU’s foremost heroes. But at least it’s actually happening. There’s no release date set for Black Widow, but it’s expected to be released some time in 2020 and Kevin Feige has called it the beginning of the next chapter of the MCU, which is pretty exciting....

20th Century Fox releases the first trailer and poster for Breakthrough, an inspirational film about faith, hope, and familial love. Based on Joyce Smith’s 2017 novel The Impossible: The Miraculous Story of a Mother’s Faith and Her Child’s Resurrection, Breakthrough chronicles her trials and tribulations upon nearly losing her 14-year-old adopted son. In 2015, John Smith slipped through an icy Missouri lake and spent 15 minutes submerged in the water. After being rescued, the boy had no pulse for 45 minutes but ultimately survived, thus inspiring headlines about a “miraculous” recovery and his mother’s book about the experience....

While most movie reviews tend to be published close to the date when a film opens, that timing usually doesn’t reflect when the individual film critic has actually seen the film in question. Most major releases are screened for the press under embargo agreements, by which an outlet agrees to withhold publishing a review until a specific date in exchange for the courtesy of an early viewing. And though review embargos often served a practical purpose in evening the playing field between big and small market outlets, they have also been known to be set up so as to prevent news of a bad movie from getting out too far ahead of its release....
