Black Panther earned twelve 2018 Critics’ Choice Award nominations, the second-most of any film. Ryan Coogler’s entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was widely acclaimed upon its release back in February, breaking box office records and seizing control of the zeitgeist. Many were impressed with its heady and relevant themes, which helped Black Panther transcend its traditional genre trappings and deliver a story rich with substance. As a result, a narrative building all through the year is whether or not Black Panther can break new ground and earn a Best Picture nomination at the Oscars....

Photos taken on the set of the solo Black Widow movie may indicate Florence Pugh’s mysterious role in the film is as Yelena Belova. It was previously reported in early 2019 that Pugh was cast in Black Widow in a significant role, news that was later confirmed. However, Marvel remains tight-lipped about the character she will portray. Until recently, the current Black Widow was Natasha Romanova, as played by Scarlett Johansson....

Like pretty much everyone else who saw it, former Han Solo director Chris Miller likes the newest Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer. After a new full preview for the sequel was finally released last night, fans were obviously thrilled with the slew of new footage that we were able to see. You may remember that the last time we got a lengthy teaser was all the way back in April during this year’s Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, and with just a little bit over two months left before the full film blasts through cinemas, everybody thought that it was high time for a new trailer....

Counterpart season 1 was one of the best shows of 2018 (although the series premiere sneak peek arrived in late December 2017), and because the phrase “too much of a good thing” no longer has any meaning in this era of Peak TV, the series is back to begin its second go-round just before the year makes way for 2019. And although a quick turnaround of that sort might seem like a True Detective-sized red flag, or a perilous misstep on behalf of what has proven to be a smart, emotionally driven spy thriller about the nature of identity and the enormous ramifications of choice, Counterpart instead returns with a confident, focused season 2 premiere that is ready to build off of and explore the consequences of the events (and personal discoveries) that dominated and upended the story in the latter half of the first season....

UPDATE: WWE has since confirmed Dean Ambrose’s upcoming departure from the company. Former WWE champion and member of dominant faction The Shield, Dean Ambrose, is reportedly set to leave WWE shortly after WrestleMania XXXV. Ambrose first gained fame in the wrestling world competing on the indie circuit under the name Jon Moxley. He signed a developmental deal with WWE in 2011, and competed in their Florida Championship Wrestling farm league, which eventually transformed into what fans know today as NXT....

Disney’s adding Rogue One: A Star Wars Story star Donnie Yen to their live-action remake of Mulan. The Mouse House is in the business of franchises and remakes right now, and that means steamrolling through their animated film catalogue. After a number of successful ventures like Beauty and the Beast and The Jungle Book, they have a full slate lined up. One of those live-action remakes will be Mulan, a movie at one point scheduled to hit theaters this year....

Every movie, no matter how great or terrible, has plot holes. Some bit of logic that was overlooked by the filmmakers, or contradictory events in the story; they just happen. Doctor Strange is another crowd-pleasing blockbuster from superhero factory Marvel Studios. It’s a rousing adventure that for the first time reveals the multiverse and brings magic to the Avengers’ superheroics. As much fun as the movie is, it’s not exempt from lapses in logic....

A new trailer for Borderlands 3 was shown during the Microsoft conference at E3 2019, which also confirmed that the rumored new DLC adventure for Borderlands 2 is real and that it’s coming to the Borderlands: The Handsome Collection version of the game today. The new DLC content for Borderlands 2 is called Commander Lilith & The Fight For Sanctuary and it will tie into the events of Borderlands 3. The fact that the new DLC requires the Borderlands: The Handsome Collection version of the game is relevant, as that game is coming to Xbox Game Pass today, with the PC version of the service currently running an introductory deal of only costing a dollar for the first month....

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has finally found a place in the franchise’s timeline, but Nintendo has decided to make it a little more complicated than that. Although there has been much debate about where Breath of the Wild fits into the long history of Hyrule, the answer isn’t as simple as placing the game at the end of a timeline. As the latest title in the long-running Zelda franchise, the Nintendo Switch game blew critics away with its expansive backdrop and the biggest version of Hyrule that gamers have ever seen....

An adorable video features Goose the cat actor Reggie answering questions from fans about Captain Marvel. The feline performer played Goose in the superhero origin story (called Chewie in the comics, but renamed for the film as part of its recurring Top Gun motif), and was a huge hit with audiences, quickly becoming one of the film’s most popular characters and outshining his human co-stars, with videos spotlighting him and fan posters replacing the heads of major characters with kitty faces....

Community was a show that followed the often-fantastical lives of a diverse group of students and teachers who meet at a Colorado community college. It was made successful off of the back of its incredible cast and witty writing but ask any fan what the show’s centerpiece was and they’ll tell you that it was the cinematic high-concept episodes that peppered each season. The main characters would often get sucked into fast-paced adventures that would send up a particular format or genre, changing the show’s style and tone accordingly....

CBS renews Criminal Minds for its 15th and final season that will be composed of only 10 episodes. One of the longest-running scripted series ever, the show centers around a group of FBI behavioral analysts who use their expertise in solving serial crimes. Starting in 2005, the police procedural will end its run with a total of 325 episodes, joining the Top 20 of all time list for most TV episodes....

If ever there was a teen drama of musical relationships, it was Dawson’s Creek. Running for five seasons on the WB, Dawson’s Creek followed title character Dawson Leery and his group of friends as they navigated high school and university life. Much of the conflict involved in the teenage years was the result of relationships. Dawson’s best friends Joey and Pacey eventually created two sides of what is now a classic teen television love triangle....

Deadpool 2 almost had a surprise cameo from X-Men villain Omega Red, and a new photo shows what the character would have looked like. The mega-hit sequel introduced a wealth of new characters, and had a chance to depict even more for the first time - and at least one of them certainly would’ve intrigued X-Men fans. Omega Red has long been a popular adversary for Deadpool and X-Force, among other mutant heroes, and his cameo in Deadpool 2 would’ve driven home how dangerous he’s supposed to be....
