Superhero costume masks in movies and television have always had the actor wear black makeup around their eyes, a wardrobe element rarely acknowledged, much less addressed, within the world of the story, but that looks to be changing with Titans. The upcoming new show offers a dark and edgy variation on the Teen Titans, including classic DC characters like Robin, Starfire, Raven, and Beast Boy. In Titans, Robin sports black face paint around his mask like many costumed heroes before him — but the faded and smudged look of the black around his eyes makes it seem like the angry Titan has applied it himself....

Deadpool 2 is far more ambitious than the first film, elevating the action, humor and overall scope for an even more fun experience in the sequel. Deadpool 2 is the sequel to 20th Century Fox’s first R-rated X-Men film, 2016’s Deadpool. Voice actor Jerry O’Connell, who plays the role of Superman in the upcoming animated project The Death of Superman says that the movie has a “scary good” version of Doomsday. While not elaborating on precisely why that is so, O’Connell’s comments may hint at some big changes to the infamous villain, in this animated adaptation of the classic comic book storyline. Released in 1992 to high praise and huge sales, the original The Death of Superman would become one of the most influential comic books of what is commonly known today as The Dark Age of Comics....

Warner Bros. is finally unleashing their highly-anticipated DC Extended Universe this year, introducing a bevy of new characters in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad. One of the most important pieces that will be featured in both of those films is Ben Affleck’s take on Batman. Debuting in first is Boo 2!: A Madea Halloween, which made $21.6 million in its first three days. Though the movie was drubbed by critics, the popularity of the franchise was enough to draw in sizable crowds. It is worth pointing out, however, this is the second-lowest opening for a Madea movie, topping only A Madea Christmas’ $16 million....

Brawlout, even though it desperately wants to be, is not the next Super Smash Bros.. This might seem like an unfair comparison since Super Smash Bros. is a long-running series that is supported by decades of Nintendo (and other iconic video game) history. The directors behind Captain Marvel want to see Carol team up with Valkyrie in the future. After over a decade of movies, Marvel Studios finally released their first female-led film earlier this year with Captain Marvel. The solo movie starring Brie Larson as Carol Danvers was a massive success, earning over $1 billion at the worldwide box office. The reception introduced Danvers to millions, with many immediately taking to her, and that’s good news for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as she will lead the shared universe moving forward....

Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are awaiting each new piece of news relating to Captain Marvel, which will not only bring one of the comics’ longest-lived “legacy” heroes to the screen but also mark the first film from the studio to be fronted by a female character. But what form the film might take, in terms of what sort of story those same fans can expect to see play out, has largely remained a mystery – including whether or not it would be the place where audiences learned its hero’s origin story....

Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger is one of the most eagerly anticipated Marvel TV shows - but it won’t be like the comics according to showrunner Joe Pokaski. The first episode of Cloak & Dagger was screened at SXSW earlier this month, and fans and critics responded positively. The superhero romance drama was described as “a really smart, mature, visually accomplished Marvel show.” Stars Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph were consistently praised for the strength of their performances....

One of the biggest celebrities in the Mixed Martial Arts scene is Conor McGregor. The 29-year-old fighter was a huge star in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, but his celebrity totally exploded in the lead-up to his highly-publicized fight with the undefeated world champion, Floyd Mayweather, who came out of retirement to do battle with the Irish combatant. The fight was one of the biggest sporting events ever, with McGregor rumored to have earned $100 million for putting up his dukes against Mayweather - who himself is alleged to have made a staggering $300 million for the fight....

The director of Gravity and one of the Harry Potter films is joining forces with the lead actor from Manchester By The Sea and A Ghost Story, and they’re hoping to scare TV viewers this time. Alfonso Cuarón and Casey Affleck are developing a new drama series which has definite leanings towards the horror genre, and apparently a number of networks are excited by it and showing plenty of interest....

With a very low critic score on RottenTomatoes and a whole “hum-drum” feeling from the fan community who is just waiting to see what Disney will do with the X-Men, Dark Phoenix has unfortunately not been well received. There was a lot to be hopeful for with this concluding chapter in the First Class series. All of that hope went out the window pretty quick. But one mystery that the film succeeded in keeping very close to the vest was who the villain of the movie was....

Deadpool 2 director David Leitch has some things to say about his film’s opening weekend outgrossing Ron Howard’s Solo: A Star Wars Story’s domestic opening. Leitch didn’t seem all that surprised by his film’s box office numbers. After taking over the series from Tim Miller, he and star Ryan Reynolds went all-in with the sequel. While Deadpool 2 hit theaters two weeks before Solo: A Star Wars Story, the two blockbusters have been in a kind of indirect competition with one another, especially since no other film dared to open the same weekend as a Star Wars movie....

With the huge box office success of Deadpool, buzz about the already-developing sequel is in full effect. So far all that is known for sure about the sequel is that it will feature the big-screen debut of fellow Rob Liefeld creation Cable, and that it will likely be one of a growing number of R-rated comic book movies to come, but beyond that fans can only guess about what the plot will involve....

Justin Theroux is in final talks to star in Disney’s live-action/CGI remake of Lady And The Tramp. Following the success of Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book and Bill Condon’s Beauty and the Beast, Disney continues to re-imagine more and more of their classic animated films as live-action/CGI movies, including titles like Dumbo and Aladdin. Another tale getting the live-action treatment is Lady and The Tramp, which contrary to the rest, will skip theaters and go straight to Disney’s streaming service (expected to launch in Fall 2019)....

Doctor Strange has a lot going for it right now. It recently became Marvel Studios’ highest-grossing solo adventure when it passed Iron Man’s worldwide box office total, it garnered some of the best reviews of any Marvel movie, and its outstanding visual effects appear bound for awards season success. Much of Doctor Strange’s visual appeal comes from the vision of director Scott Derrickson, who graduated from supernatural horror to big-budget supernatural superheroes and delivered his best work yet....

E3 2018 was full of fantastic game reveals. Titles such as Halo Infinite and Doom Eternal were met with excitement from the video game community, confirming long-suspected projects with tremendous success.
