China has denied a release to Disney’s Christopher Robin amid a government crackdown on images depicting Winnie the Pooh. Starring Ewan McGregor as the titular Robin, Disney’s family film opens this weekend in the United States where it’s expected to take in $20-30 million at the box office, which may be enough to best last week’s #1 movie, Mission: Impossible - Fallout. Inspired by the classic children’s stories by A.A. Milne, Christopher Robin picks up the story of Christopher after he’s become a grown-up businessman and forgotten about his childhood friends Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore, Owl, Piglet and the rest....

Aniplex has released the first trailer for their upcoming revival of City Hunter as well as details about the cast and story. The original City Hunter manga followed a young man named Ryo Saeba as he gets into and out of trouble while solving cases as a private eye, a job also known by the name of sweeper. Ryo also happens to be a skilled sniper and frequently finds himself distracted by women....

Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton could be the MVP of Avengers: Endgame. After making four appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to this point, Renner may be in position to play a prominent and pivotal role in Avengers: Endgame later this year. This could happen after only being mentioned in Avengers: Infinity War, but his physical absence is said to be for the better. The whereabouts of Barton was one of the biggest questions leading up to Avengers: Infinity War as he was nowhere to be seen during the film’s marketing....

Conan O’Brien’s bringing a new spin to his TBS late night series Conan, as the series will switch to a new 30-minute format for its ninth season, and the new trailer hints at what’s to come in 2019. The “longest-tenured host in late night,” O’Brien has gone from following hosting Late Night With Conan O’Brien on NBC to briefly taking over the desk at The Tonight Show, before that debacle saw him take his irreverent style of comedy to TBS, where he’s been since 2010....

Benedict Cumberbatch and Jake Gyllenhaal are currently looking to star together in an original thriller, titled Rio. After 2016 proved to be a fruitful year for both actors - between Cumberbatch joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Strange’s namesake and Gyllenhaal earning applause for his work on Tom Ford’s Nocturnal Animals - the pair are keeping as busy as ever now. Gyllenhaal is costarring in Snowpiercer director Joon Ho Bong’s Okja when it arrives next month, while Cumberbatch is slated to appear in films varying from historical drama The Current War to MCU blockbuster Avengers: Infinity War, over the next year or so....

The adventure game genre is an ideal venue for VR in the current gaming generation, and it’s amazing what a focused attention to tone, lore, and layered world-building can accomplish despite minimal interactivity. Announced earlier this year, the new Sony PlayStation VR exclusive Déraciné was positioned as a passion project by Hidetaka Miyazaki, creator and mastermind behind the “Soulsborne” series of games. It’s an exploratory adventure game that mostly takes place in a boarding school and its environs, and features an engrossing cast of young wards whose glacier-paced delivery and meticulous phrasing can best be described as “Souls-esque....

The great villain of Marvel’s Infinity Saga, the MCU’s Thanos believed he was a hero. His insane goal was to rebalance the universe by erasing half of all life, believing he was serving the cause of life, averting a universal extinction event. But even DC’s villains know Thanos’ methodology left a lot to be desired....

It is only a few more weeks before Deadpool is released on Blu-ray and DVD – though the film has already made its digital debut. Given how big of a push the movie’s marketing campaign made up to and even after its theatrical debut, some would assume that fans have seen most of what we’re going to see from the Merc With a Mouth. In order to fill up its programming slate, Disney+ is regularly turning towards producing TV shows that serve as prequels to some of Disney’s most successful movies. The company has announced a prequel TV show exploring the early adventures of the versions of Gaston and LeFou from the live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast, a Cassian Andor prequel show (set prior to Rogue One), and a TV series following the exploits of the Prince Anders character from the live-action Aladdin remake....
