Burger King Germany hijacked the ending of a screening of IT, offering a warning against trusting clowns. A week or so ago, it was reported that the Russian branch of fast food giant Burger King had filed a complaint with the government, in hopes of getting the film IT banned from the country. The restaurant alleged that Pennywise the Clown bore a resemblance to McDonald’s mascot Ronald McDonald, making the Stephen King adaptation essentially one long ad for McDonald’s....

Not long ago, Marvel Studios released the first trailer for Avengers: Infinity War, and the entire world went wild! Fans got to see a preview of Thanos beating up our favorite heroes, the Guardians of the Galaxy meeting Thor, a battle for Wakanda, a bearded Cap, and a bunch of other things that brought them to optimal hype levels for the May 2018 release. For those not aware, the film is going to be a loose adaptation of Marvel’s legendary Infinity Gauntlet story, where Thanos goes around gathering all six Infinity Stones before bringing the know universe to its knees....

The latest episode of DC Universe’s Titans series explores the sinister, twisted history of Hawk and Dove. It’s a pretty surprising move, given the last episode had a cliffhanger ending in which Starfire seemed to be about to kill Raven. What’s more, “Hank and Dawn” is frankly one of the most awkward episodes of TV ever made. Actors Alan Ritchson and Minka Kelly are tremendously well-cast, but unfortunately the overall episode is - in narrative terms - pretty clumsy....

Amid ongoing controversy, Death Note director Adam Wingard takes to Twitter to defend his choice to set the story in the U.S. The upcoming Netflix movie is an adaptation of the popular manga/anime of the same name, in which a Japanese schoolboy discovers a notebook that allows him to kill people by writing down their names. He is soon visited by the shinigami (reaper or death god) that dropped the book, and is hunted by a boy genius working for the police department, as he continues to strike down those he decides are deserving of death....

Get a look at Ryuk from Netflix’s live-action Death Note adaptation. Netflix is expanding its originals, and giving a first look to fans at nerdom’s biggest event of the year: San Diego Comic-Con. Willem Dafoe has officially signed on for Disney’s Togo, which will be featured on the company’s upcoming streaming service. Disney’s untitled streaming service is set to launch in 2019, with several original features, including the film adaptation of Stargirl. Considering that the streaming service is a year out, Togo could be one of the first original additions to the platform’s library, along with a slew of Disney-owned content. Much like what happened with Netflix, Disney’s streaming content will primarily consist of previously-released movie and TV content in the beginning, including upwards of 8,000 episodes from ABC TV shows....

Yesterday, a former Blizzard employee alleged that a co-worker at the company subjected him to racist abuse and discrimination. Jules M.C., who worked on Hearthstone’s esports side before moving to Blizzard’s esports business operations - and ultimately leaving the company - explained his experience in an extended Twitter post. M.C.’s claims of unchecked discrimination are the latest problem facing Blizzard, which has recently been enshrouded in controversy. Reports of Activision’s increasing stranglehold on the studio, disappointing game announcements, and the departure of numerous executives have contributed to the sense that something’s amiss at the studio that has long been beloved for its classic IPs....

Bob Iger, the outgoing chairman of Disney, continues to double down on his belief that Apple and Disney would have eventually merged under Steve Jobs. In a new interview with CNBC, Iger said that he believes Apple and Disney would have completed a merger if Steve Jobs had lived. As noted by Seeking Alpha, Iger made the comments in an interview with CNBC on Tuesday. He explained that he’s “pretty convinced” Apple and Disney would have eventually had the merger discussion if Jobs had lived....

A Chinese spy carrying out industrial espionage against GE Aviation and Honeywell’s aerospace division was caught with the help of access to an iCloud backup of his iPhone. The data obtained included a never-before-seen copy of a security form used by the Chinese security service when recruiting spies. Xu Yanjun, an officer in China’s Ministry of State Security (MSS) was arrested and brought to trial in the US after investigators lured him out of the country to a meeting in Belgium, from where he was extradited to America …...

The DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League special that aired on the CW network turned out to be quite eventful. Fans were treated to a lot of footage of Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, but also a bit of insight into other members of the upcoming Justice League films, including The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg. DC Comics fans were given a peek into what they can expect from this version of these heroes....

The standalone Batman movie project from Warner Bros. and DC is no longer called The Batman as previously believed. Directed and written by Matt Reeves, the film has been in development for quite a while now, with several reported production starts that didn’t pan out. Now, it’s tipped to begin filming in November, supposedly with a brand new title. Ben Affleck was originally set to star, direct and write the film, but the actor eventually dropped out of directing and writing, handing those duties off to Reeves....

Deadpool 2 has already set another record, this time for the opening day box office total for an R-rated film. More than two years after the original Deadpool hit theaters and became the third R-rated film in movie history to crack the $300 million mark domestically (it went on to make $363 million overall), the stakes were without a doubt high for Fox’s Deadpool 2, Ryan Reynolds’ second foray into the insanely entertaining world of the Marvel superhero affectionately known as the Merc with a Mouth....
