For the second time this week actor Dan Aykroyd is sliming the 2016 Ghostbusters reboot, and this time he’s harping on the use of the “originators” in the film. The Floronic Man is coming to DC Universe’s Swamp Thing and he might be played Kevin Durand. Durand is no stranger to genre media, specifically comic books properties. The actor played Fred Dukes, otherwise known as Blob, in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Durand also had a major role in the FX series The Strand as well as ABC’s Lost. Interestingly Swamp Thing has already cast a major villain for season 1. Will Patton has been tapped to play series regular Avery Sunderland....

Lewis Tan has confirmed that he’s discussed the Nightwing movie with DC, among other projects. The actor, who recently starred as Shatterstar in Deadpool 2, announced that he had met with DC through his social media accounts last month. Tan further posted a photo of himself carrying a stack of comics books that included Ed Brubaker’s Batman Vol. 2 and tagged DC’s digital service in the image, but avoided shedding more light on what, exactly, he and the comic book company talked about beyond that....
Ryan Reynolds may have accidentally given fans a sneak peek at Wade Wilson’s X-Force costume in Deadpool 2. Whether it’s through adapting an existing animated property (Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid) or through an entirely original concept, Disney is constantly looking for ways to add to its ever expanding library of live-action female protagonists. They continued that trend this week by acquiring the movie rights to artist/writer Tony Cliff’s best selling graphic novel, Delilah Dirk and the Turkish Lieutenant. Delilah, billed as the “International Mistress of Swordsmanship”, made her first appearance in 2008 on the pages of Flight comics in the story Delilah Dirk and the Aqueduct....

The new project by writer/director Peter Hedges, Ben is Back is the latest film or TV show to deal with drug addiction and recovery in recent months. Whereas Felix Van Groeningen’s movie Beautiful Boy tackles the topic in the context of a memoir and Mike Flanagan’s Netflix series The Haunting of Hill House explores the subject through the lens of supernatural horror, Hedge’s film examines the realities of how addiction impacts people (and those around them) through a mix of familial drama and, to a lesser degree, the crime genre....

Margot Robbie has confirmed that the R-rated Birds of Prey movie will begin filming early next year - and that it will have a much smaller budget than your typical DC superhero film. There was a surprising appearance at the star-studded Deadpool 2 premiere: Peter, the seemingly powerless member of the newly formed X-Force who has become something of an internet sensation. The first Deadpool film became a surprise megahit in 2016, grossing $783 million worldwide, thus making it the highest-grossing R-rated film of all-time. The raunchy, blood-splattered movie overcame a somewhat reluctant studio and its hard R-rating to somehow make more money than plenty of more mainstream, family friendly comic book blockbusters....
