Director Mike Flanagan confirms his forthcoming movie adaptation of Stephen King’s Doctor Sleep will be a sequel to and bridge the gap between both The Shining movie universe and the original novel. Published in 2009, Doctor Sleep is the sequel to King’s seminal horror novel The Shining, which was published in 1977. Set several years after Jack Torrance was driven to madness at the Overlook Hotel, the book follows his psychic son Danny as an adult as he comes up against a nefarious group who feed off the energy of kids who share the same psychic powers as he does....

It’s been less than a day since it was announced that The Big Bang Theory will come to an end after its upcoming 12th season, and not everyone is happy with the news, specifically star Mayim Bialik. The hit CBS sitcom will end its 12-season run as the longest-running multi-cam sitcom in TV history, but given how strong the ratings still are (14 million viewers per episode last season), and the fact that there is already a successful spin-off (Sheldon), some may wonder why the end is coming now....

A new poster for Black Panther from Comic-Con International in San Diego highlight’s T’Challa’s battle suit’s ability to glow. The groundbreaking character played by Chadwick Boseman is gearing up for his own standalone film following his impressive debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe via Captain America: Civil War. The D23 Expo held last weekend did not offer anything particularly huge for Black Panther as Marvel Studios chose to focus on next year’s epic blockbuster that is Avengers: Infinity War....

Filming has officially wrapped on Blumhouse’s eagerly awaited Halloween sequel. The Halloween franchise has been in limbo for years now, following the mixed reception to Rob Zombie’s 2009 sequel to his own remake. A direct sequel to Zombie’s film called Halloween 3D would have seen Michael stalking his sister Laurie Strode in a mental asylum, but production on the film was postponed in order to develop the script. That version was eventually cancelled, and instead, another sequel dubbed Halloween Returns was put in development....

Capcom is currently working on Dead Rising 5. News of the upcoming sequel seemed to have leaked in August of last year, but the project is now confirmed. There does seem to be some debate over whether or not Dead Rising 5 would be an Xbox exclusive. Microsoft has had a rough time in this latest generation of consoles. The PlayStation 4 has enjoyed market success and critical acclaim with its exclusive titles, such as Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War....

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to be cut down the middle this coming May. As fans choose sides for the upcoming Captain America: Civil War, and await the start of Phase 3, the full role of all the players is still being defined. And one of the later additions to this massive comic book throw down is Marvel’s friendly neighborhood spider. Sony released Spider-Man for use in in the MCU last year, while retaining film rights....

There’s a lot to love about Apple’s M1 Pro and M1 Max MacBook Pro. The return of ports, MagSafe charging, and even ProMotion are worthy upgrades before you even consider the performance gains and boosted battery life. We haven’t had the chance to test drive these notebooks yet, but it’s hard to imagine what could go wrong based on our experience with Apple’s standard M1 Macs. About a month ago, a report was released saying that Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool would be making a cameo in Logan later this year. However, the validity of the news was quickly shot down by Reynolds himself, Logan writer/director James Mangold, and even Hugh Jackman - all of whom expressed their desire to see the two characters cross paths, but just not in Logan. Considering the somber, singular tone that the upcoming standalone film embraces it’s fair to say that having a meta, self-referential character like Wade Wilson pop up out of nowhere would spoil that tone....

According to a new report, the blockbuster deal that would send Fox’s Marvel properties over to Disney has progressed to the final stages. The two companies have been in talks for some time now, though discussions have definitely heated up in recent weeks. A potential deal was said to have stalled back in early November, but the fact that Fox and Disney were even talking was enough to get the Marvel fanbase buzzing, setting up a firestorm in the online community about whether or not the acquisition was in the best interest of the characters in question....

Disneyland Park in Anaheim, CA, is offering park-goers an exclusive early look at Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man & the Wasp starting next month. Ant-Man & The Wasp, of course, it the hotly anticipated sequel to the 2015 summer blockbuster, Ant-Man, which brought Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and his tiny alter-ego to the big screen for the first time. Fans didn’t have to wait long to see Ant-Man again, though, as Rudd reprised his role (and transformed into Giant Man) in Anthony and Joe Russo’s Captain America: Civil War in 2016....

The popular privacy-focused web browser Brave released an update to its iOS app on Wednesday that brings a new “Privacy Hub” to its users. There, the app shows a summary of how visited websites collect and use personal data from the device. The feature is part of version 1.38 of Brave for iOS, which adds even more options for users to browse the web safely and privately. As detailed by the company in a blog post, the new Privacy Hub alerts users about trackers, fingerprinting attempts, and other “bad stuff” hidden on websites....

Things are looking up for Marvel’s favorite underwater superhero. Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada recently confirmed that the rights to Namor, the master of all things submarine, most likely belong to Marvel, paving the way for the character to become a member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Infinity War writers Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus already expressed their interest in employing the contentious water-lord in their stable. If all things are above board, it could only be a matter of time before the Submariner gets his MCU due....

Batwoman is coming to The CW, but who will play Kate Kane? The network has confirmed not only that character of Batwoman will be openly gay in the Arrowverse, but that they plan to cast an openly gay actress in the role. This casting choice is in line with the current iteration of Batwoman in the comics; Kate Kane is a Jewish lesbian who decides to fight crime under the moniker of Batwoman after she is kicked out of West Point for refusing to lie about her sexuality....

CD Projekt Red has announced a Cyberpunk 2077 cosplay contest to culminate in a live Grand Finale event in 2020 with a $40,000 prize pool. To make it to the Grand Finale, cosplayers will first have to qualify online or through one of several events to be held throughout 2019. Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most anticipated video games currently in production at any studio, thanks in part to its pedigree....

THE THREE JOKERS IN DC REBIRTH Batman learned there are three Jokers in the DC Universe. This was made possible by the machinations of Doctor Manhattan of Watchmen. It turns out Doctor Manhattan had stolen ten years from the DC Universe and was responsible for its transition from the New 52 continuity that began in 2011 to the current DC Rebirth continuity. Somehow, the Joker was split into three versions of himself: the original incarnation of the Joker created by Bill Finger, Jerry Robinson and Bob Kane, the 1980s version of the Joker Alan Moore and Brian Bolland essayed in The Killing Joke, and the modern New 52 version of the Joker primarily written by Scott Snyder and illustrated by Greg Capullo....

Flashpoint is reportedly set to film in Vancouver. Following several directorial changes with both Seth Grahame-Smith and Rick Famuyiwa attached to direct at one point, the movie finally locked in brand new helmers early this month with Spider-Man: Homecoming writers Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley. Ezra Miller will reprise the titular character after his official debut in Justice League, with its narrative set to adapt one of the most iconic The Flash comics narrative of the same name....

Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld has some comic recommendations for Bill Maher, following statements the TV show host recently made on his HBO program Real Time with Bill Maher. Instead of attacking Maher, Liefeld has instead taken a more proactive and positive approach. Maher’s comments stirred controversy in the wake of Stan Lee’s death back in November. While many took to social media to grieve the loss of a figure who has left an indelible mark on pop culture, Maher chose that time to attack those who were deeply saddened by the loss....
