After three weekends, Black Panther is now one of the highest-grossing films ever. Thanks to enthusiastic word-of-mouth from critics and audiences, director Ryan Coogler’s latest is a cultural phenomenon that’s impressive even by Marvel’s lofty standards. Black Panther came storming out of the gates with a whopping $242 million during the 4-day Presidents Day weekend and made its way up the charts from there. Seemingly every day it’s crossing a new milestone, setting a new second-weekend gross record for the MCU....

Black Panther continues to clean up at the box office, and its success is reportedly leading to a heartwarming rise in black cat adoptions. To say that Black Panther has been a hit at the box office would be a massive understatement. Made on a reported production budget of $200 million, Black Panther has already hauled in nearly $730 million worldwide in less than three weeks in theaters. That total puts the film at number three on the domestic charts for an MCU entry, behind only The Avengers and Age of Ultron....

BlacKkKlansman reveals a brand new poster in anticipation of the new Spike Lee Joint. The film, based on the remarkable true story by Ron Stallworth, saw its world premiere earlier this year at the Cannes Film Festival, where it took home the Grand Prix award, and a Prize of the Ecumenical Jury Special Mention. BlacKkKlansman’s origins lie in a book first published in 2014. Black Klansman, written by Stallworth, recounts the true story of a police officer who infiltrated the Ku Klux Klan back in 1979....

It might be hard to believe this, but the Nintendo 64 is over twenty years old. The console, which sold over 30 million units, is now considered a retro console. In the upcoming X-Men film Dark Phoenix, Alexandra Shipp’s Storm will line up more closely with Halle Berry’s version in previous films. Berry originated the live-action iteration of the character back in 2000’s X-Men and reprised the role in three other films, last seen in 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past. A younger version of the character - played by Shipp - was subsequently introduced in X-Men: Apocalypse. Dark Phoenix will see a dark and dangerous cosmic force manifest within Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), causing her to spiral out of control....

It isn’t the first time that a member of the Batman family decided to call it quits, only to have another civilian take on the responsibilities. But it is the first time that Bruce Wayne’s original Robin has decided to cut ties to his old life, and start living for himself (taking a bullet to the head will do that to you)....

2016 will be a big year for superhero movies, and February’s release of Deadpool will kick it all off. The movie’s viral marketing has arguably been some of the best of its kind ever produced, with Ryan Reynolds’ self-aware Merc With a Mouth blaming Australia for X-Men Origins: Wolverine and consistently reminding us that Deadpool will be a very different kind of comic book movie. Deadheads unite, our favorite show is back! In just a few days, the long-awaited Deadwood movie will finally premiere, bringing us back together with our favorite characters who we’ve been away from for so long. Set 10 years later, we’ll finally learn what happened after George Hearst’s intense seizure of power over the course of season 3. Though the show has diverted from the real-life history of the town, we’re interested to hear if any of it will come into play, including the fire that burnt down much of Deadwood in 1879....

Disney’s animated hit Frozen captured the zeitgeist in 2013, and the brand has since lived on with a short film (Frozen Fever), a mini-feature (Olaf’s Frozen Adventure), and a Broadway adaption. Marvel has already begun the marketing push for its first Phase 3 offering, Captain America: Civil War, but the studio is also currently shooting the second film to be released next year, Doctor Strange. In addition to introducing the Sorcerer Supreme to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Doctor Strange will also establish the mystical side of the comics’ lore. Production on Doctor Strange began in Nepal last month, offering fans their first glimpses of Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo....

Thor is literally a god. He’s muscular, he’s got immense power, and a magic hammer called Mjolnir that is his most trusted ally in combat. BioWare’s Anthem will be more like Bungie’s Destiny because it’s what players are asking for. Anthem, an online RPG set to come out next month, has been repeatedly compared to Destiny, but developer BioWare has argued against any similarities - until now. BioWare’s upcoming Anthem is shaping up to be one of the biggest games of the year. Much of the game remains a mystery, but it has been revealed that the game can be played as either single player or co-op in squads of up to four players....

The members of the new Polish games studio Thing Trunk are certainly ambitious, with a full slate of seven (!) “mid-core” titles projected in the coming years. Book of Demons represents the first of these games under the Return 2 Games banner, serving as a kind of hodgepodge of genres and classic gaming inspirations, including a considerable amount of outright Diablo appropriation. The overarching intention here is a game that seeks to respect a player’s time, but it’s hard for Book of Demons to avoid getting overwhelmed in the balance between casual access and actual depth....
