In a surprising development, producers hint that Better Call Saul’s Omaha-set flashforwards might take place before Walter White’s Breaking Bad death. While a spinoff to a show as acclaimed as Breaking Bad was always a gamble, it seems fair to say at this point that co-creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould - as well as star/producer Bob Odenkirk - have more than knocked things out of the park with Better Call Saul, which just began its fourth season on AMC this past Monday night....

Ryan Coogler’s latest has been in very exclusive company since it opened a month ago, rewriting the record books throughout its run. Very quickly, Black Panther became one of the highest-grossing films of all-time, recently passing major blockbusters like Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and The Dark Knight on the U.S. charts. At its current trajectory, Panther should be able to top The Avengers as the MCU’s top earner ever....

The sixth season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine has an official premiere date, as well as a designated time slot. This will mark the show’s first season on NBC after Fox had canceled the series last spring. Debuting on Fox in 2013, Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a comedy series following the tight-knit squad of Brooklyn’s 99th precinct. Despite critical acclaim, the series was canceled in May 2018, only to be picked up by NBC for a 13-episode sixth season (which was later bumped up to 18 episodes)....

Captain America: Civil War might not be an Avengers movie, but it does feature more Avengers in one place than we’ve ever seen before in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Unfortunately, they’re not getting on very well with one another. The second entry from Captain America: The Winter Soldier directors Anthony and Joe Russo sees the superhero team divided over the issue of whether or not they should be free to battle bad guys as soon as they appear, or whether they should wait for permission from the United Nations - and be willing to stand down if that permission isn’t granted....

An official Disney website has finally confirmed that Captain Marvel is set in 1995. Until now, it had only been confirmed that this film was set in the 1990s; this gives a first concrete sense of where Captain Marvel should be placed in the MCU timeline. Marvel’s Phase 3 has taken place completely out of sequence; Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set in 2014, and both Black Panther and Spider-Man: Homecoming are based in the immediate aftermath of Captain America: Civil War....

In the latest episode of Counterpart, “Twin Cities,” the series put all its cards on the table at once by explaining how its parallel universes came to be. Counterpart, which premiered in 2017 on Starz, began by following the life of a pencil pusher named Howard Silk who soon learns that the office he works for manages a crossing between two parallel worlds. Another version of Howard exists in that other world, and that Howard is an experienced field agent who often crosses the border between universes to bring back people who have escaped their world and gone rogue....
